Alice lived in a small house on Sonoma Avenue with her family. Ever since she moved there, she always felt a strange vibe from the house. She felt as though something was very off about it. Every once in a while small things would happen, such as creaking floor boards or doors moving on their own. Her family would joke about the house being haunted, Alice however felt as though that might not be so much of a joke. Every night, when everyone was asleep, her door would slowly creek open, followed by scratching on the walls and squeaks of the floor. This continued for weeks. No matter how many times she complained of these occurrences, her family still brushed them off with some sort of bizarre explanation. Soon it started to progress. Alice began hearing laughing in the hallways when the door would open. Eventually, the laughs got louder... and closer. Every night the volume increased until she could no longer sleep. She lie awake at night drenched in sweat and the stench of fear. She continued to complain to her family, who again brushed it off as nothing and decided to give her medicine to help her sleep. The medicine worked for a week or so, the sounds even stopped. Until one night, she had a terrible nightmare.Their was a dark mist covering the floor. A door was seen in the distance. Alice walk towards the door before slowly opening it. She was in her room, she saw herself look at the open door as if not seeing herself. This was how she first reacted when the door opened. She slowly walked into the room, The floor boards creaking with every step. Then, she started hearing whispers. The whispers got louder, more frequent. And then she heard scratching, she turned to see a woman scratching the wall. "Hello?" The women slowly turned to her and laughed. Her face began to melt revealing a more deformed figure before charging at her. The thing went right through her, knocking her over. She than grabbed her ankle and dragged her away into the darkness.
Alice awoke in a cold sweat, shaking and gasping for air. She still felt the woman holding her ankle. Upon looking down, the woman was their holding her ankle smiling menacingly. Alice screamed, alerting her mother to her sudden distress. Her mother burst into the room to see her daughter thrashing around the bed screeching and fighting. She ran over shaking her awake, "Alice wake up! Alice your dreaming please wake up your scaring me." Alice stopped thrashing and opened her eyes, her mother their with worry written on her face. "Alice are you ok? What happened?" Alice began to cry, "shhh it's ok it was only a nightmare." Was it though?
