Chapter 1

I stared at him intently, unable to take my eyes off his sparkling, green eyes that made me squel with delight. He held me in his arms and embraced me in places not to be touched. But I didn't mind, after all, he was Mark. His toned abs against my skin felt perfect. As we got ready to snog, our lips about to touch, I heard a voice call me.

"Angela! Angela Seah! WAKE UP!"

And it was over. In a split second, my dreams were shattered and I realised that, as usual, my dreams were just dreams and he was just a crush.

Mark would never fall in love with me considering the fact that he tortured me endlessly in the few hours of lessons in class when he sat behind me, taunting me with the fact that I had huge buck teeth that made it look like I was born to a beaver.

I returned to reality, only to look around awkwardly and notice that I was in class, I must have drifted off! All eyes were on me, few girls chuckled. An awkward silence broke out, but that was quickly ended when Mark exclaimed, "BEAVER FACE FELL ASLEEP!"

My cheeks went red and I sighed, awaiting a long lecture from my form teacher, Mrs Say. Instead, she simply said in her usual harsh tone, "Detention. After school."

I nodded and Mrs Say resumed with her lecture on Algebra, which only Zara, the nerd, listened to attentively.

"Guess I'll be seeing you," Mark leaned over and whispered in my ear.

At first, I was puzzled. But after a moment, I realised that Mark must have gotten detention too! And we would be together for detention.

Suddenly, I was happy at how all this turned out...
