"But, it's not my fault!" Gayatri whined, crossing her arms. I knew it wasn't her fault and I was falsely pushing the blame to her...but Mark liked her. Now what was I supposed to do? Congratulate her? Organize their wedding?

"Well..um...WHO TOLD YOU TO BE SO LIKEABLE???" I stormed, as she stared at me wide-eyed, as if I were deranged.

After detention, I had texted Gayatri to meet me at McDonalds to tell her what Mark told me. When she heard the news, she flipped! She went on and on about how Mark was just a friend. No matter how she tried to calm me down, I couldn't help it. I was on the verge of tears. My make-up was smudging a bit and within a minute I lay my head on the table and cried my eyes out, a few dripping on my now soggy french fries.

The door suddenly opened and I heard a familiar voice, one that I loved so dearly but now, wanted as far away from me as possible. Mainly because of the tears and the smudged make-up. I looked like a clown.

"Hey, Gayatri. Hey Angela...you're looking...err..." Mark said, in a slightly flirty voice with Gayatri. My eyes widened in horror! I was wondering whether he just preferred Gayatri to anyone else in the class or he liked her...now my question was answered. And how I wished it was the other. But, either way, it wouldn't benefit me, so I just sighed to myself.

"Wow...perfect timing," I whispered to Gayatri and she nodded. When my gaze finally left Mark's face, I noticed En Ci sitting beside Mark. "How Lanasi would love to be here right now," I thought to myself, a smirk playing at my lips.

"Earth to Beaver Face?" En Ci said, snapping his fingers to get my attention. As soon as he got my attention, Mark started talking to Gayatri about Prom.

"So, Gayatri, you going to Prom?" Mark questioned, sitting at the edge of his seat.

"I guess so, why?" Gayatri answered, asking so even though she already knew the answer.

"Because...I wanted to ask you," Mark replied, his voice softening at the last few words.

I mentally slapped myself. Since when was Mark DeCaprio shy? He always seemed like that cool, casual guy. Atleast, that was with me...

I was infuriated beyond words with no idea who I was angry at. It wasn't Gayatri's fault that Mark liked her. It wasn't Mark's fault that he liked Gayatri. So who was to blame. Me? For not being more likeable?

I came out of my trance to hear the anticipated line, "Oh, Mark. I don't know what to say..I well...yes?" she replied, and I noted how she wanted to take back that one word.
