Hi. My name is Kate Summers. And I'm not like other girls. Today, I'm going to tell you a story about how my life got turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Stick along for the ride:)

It was a sunny Tuesday morning, I dragged myself out from under my black bed sheets and made my way to the bathroom to get ready for school. I brush my teeth and then brush my long black beautiful hair, as it flows down past my butt. I throw on some black eyeliner and mascara and cover half my face with me side bangs. I hate people looking at me. I then go into my bedroom to pick out my outfit, nothing that will make me stand out. I throw on a pair of black shorts and a black AC/DC shirt, I tuck in one side of the shirt to give it some uniqueness. I look into my full length mirror and notice how perfectly the shorts sit on my body, short enough to see my perfectly curved thighs, but long enough to hide the self harm scars that lay right at the top of them, tainting my clear skin. I've never really considered myself to be beautiful, or even a little pretty, I'm just an average girl, an only child  who just moved into a stupid 3 story house with her mom and her new abusive husband. See, my dad died a few years back, and it's been hard ever since. But now that my mother has moved us half way across the country, and away from all my old friends, things are worse than ever. I put on all 39 of my bracelets to cover up the scars on my arms, like I said, it's been hard. I grab my canvas messenger bag covered in pins and I head down the 2 flights of stairs, and into the kitchen. My mom is sitting at the table holding a cup of coffee in her hands, staring off into space. She doesn't notice me so I just keep moving and try to get out of the house as fast as I could. Then something awful happened. "Where do you think you're going?" My moms husband caught me right before I opened the front door. "To school, I got to go now or I'll be late." He gives me a hateful look and grabs my wrist. "Don't have an attitude with me you bitch. Do you know who you're talking to?" I try to pull my wrist free but it's no use. Finally I relax. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." I quickly say to get him to let me go. "Don't let it happen again." He slams my wrist down and I hurriedly walk out the door and run the rest of the way to another miserable day at school.
