Chapter 1:

Carrie Swan's Point of View

I sighed yet once again. Another night alone. I have always dislike the night due to its bleak and silent atmosphere and it also gives me an impression of being watched. Thus, leaving me in an empty and isolated park in the middle of the night, has always been a bad idea. I sighed, and like always wish that my life is not as boring and meaningless and that I could explore the world before dying in the pond in the park.

Not expecting anything, I was shocked when a shooting star suddenly appear and light up the sky. I watched amazed as it seemed to be made up of many colors giving me an impression of a rainbow. However, I soon realized with a jolt that it was heading towards me at a very fast speed. Reflexively, my fear kicked in. I started panicking and swam as far as I can. Perhaps, it is me being paranoid but I can feel it getting nearer and nearer to me. To make sure, I turned around to gauge how far am I from it but only saw a flash of light as I felt it colliding into me.

I gasped as I felt a warm burning sensation traveling throughout my body. I was stretched and I let out a half quack and a humane scream in pain. However, it was not long before a cooling sensation washed over my body.

I sighed out in relief but it was short lived when I felt my self sinking. Why am I sinking? I am a swan, aren't I supposed to float? I flapped what was supposedly my wings blindly and somehow managed to keep myself afloat.

I staggered and blindly reach for the pond edge, as another explosive feeling overcome me as I gasped in surprise. The stretching feeling once again overwhelmed me as I witness my webbed feet transform into human ones and my wings into human hands with fingers.

Like an instinct, I hauled myself out of the pond from the pond edge and everything was silent for a moment except my rapid breathing. I sat there stunned for a few minutes before noticing my image on the pond surface. I screamed as I saw someone who I had never seen before reflected off instead of my usual black feathered body.
