Chapter 2:
Carrie's Point of View
I stared at the girl reflected off the surface of the pond. She has long raven hair that framed her pale face perfectly. Large black doe eyes with long lashes also adorned her face. She has a sharp nose that many girls will envy and full lips that fits her face evenly, creating what humans called the perfect look. I raised a hand and touch my face unbelievably, gasping as the girl in the reflection do the same, copying my actions.
I felt myself overcome with lots of different emotions suddenly. A million thoughts raced across my head as my mind try to grasp the fact that I am human now, something I have longed for. I must have sat there for hours, staring into space, motionless as daylight breaks through the darkness.
As people started to enter the park, I came out of my trance. It was then did I realized that I was still sitting at the edge of the pond dumbfounded and people walking in the park are staring. I quickly shot up from my stiff position and look around, admiring everything through the human eye.
I was probably too distracted to notice a guy walking towards me or his further actions. So, when I felt someone hand on my shoulder, my natural instinct took over and I ducked, shielding myself as my hands came up to block any contact. It was only then did I hear the sound of someone chuckling and even though curiosity kills the cat, I can't resist the temptation and peaked through my arms to see a well dressed guy.
His black hair was thick and smooth, and slightly slicked back. His attire was extravagant, and he has a pair of bright green eyes that seem to captivate me. My eyes raked across his face and noticed that he has a chiseled jaw that complete his look. He is perfect.
"Sorry if I scared you my lady. I was walking around when I saw you looking dazed and lost. I thought that maybe I could help you?" he offered holding out a hand. I hesitated as I saw other men that I did not notice before, standing beside him looking at me sternly like I was a threat. But when he continued to give me that kind smile, I gave in and took his outstretched hand tentatively. He smiled and pull me up effortlessly.
After pulling me up, he did something unexpected. He raised my hand gently to his lips and greeted me. "It's great to meet you, I am Alexander. May I ask what's your name?" I flushed at his gesture and stared at him dumbfounded until what he said sinked in. I pulled my hand back and let it hang limply at my side as I could still feel his lips on my hand. It gives me a sense of security and warmth that I relished in gratefully.
"I am sorry, I was momentarily distracted. You can call me Carrie." was what I managed to say softly as a sense of embarrassment washed over me. The sentence ended up in bits and pieces as I tried to gather my thoughts. He chuckled. "It's fine. I am thinking of taking a stroll along the park, care to join me?"he asked as a smile stretched along his face.
I nodded my head shyly as I agreed to his offer. While walking side by side with him, I cannot help but feel that there is a sense of comfort that wrapped around me like as though he could protect me from anything in the world. With that thought, all worries fade away and I felt my footsteps getting lighter.
It was a few hours later and we are laughing. We are enjoying ourselves with mindless topics for conversation. Through that, I found out that I like to listen to Alexander talking. From the conversation, I gathered that he was quite educated and even though I am unable to contribute, he seem to enjoy talking about what he learnt and through that I learnt a lot too.
It is then I realized that the group of men following behind Alexander before was currently trailing us as inconspicuous as possible. It halted me in my tracks and I asked him the question that I has been pondering on for so long. " Who are those people trailing us? They have been doing so for quite some time already." I asked. He seem uncomfortable as he looked at me, speechless. I cocked my head to the side with questioning eyes, patiently waiting for his answer, and he sighed, giving in before saying, " Those men are for my protection. It is important for them to make sure I am safe and protected. I am royalty."
He looked at me expectedly as if waiting for something to happen but I just stared at him blankly. He fidgeted nervously and I said, "So, what you are trying to say is that you are royalty? That's all? Why are you so nervous?"
My statement seem to caught him off guard as he stared at me as if I just got hit in the head. "That's all? THAT'S ALL? Do you know what it means? I am not joking you know." he says it frantically like he was losing his mind.
"Is it important?" I asked almost timidly at his outburst and shrunk back like he is dangerous. "Of course it is important! Do you even know what is royalty?" he exclaimed, partly exasperated. He looked wild and swung his arms up and down almost crazily, while trying to emphasize on how important it is. It is then I realized how comical he looked, and how people stared at him as if he is crazy. I cannot help it and laughed.
He paused , sighing and muttered" I cannot believe this! Does she even know how many females will kill to be in her place now?" It was then, that we were interrupted by one of the man that has been following us the whole day. "I am sorry but it is time to go." he said gruffly to Alexander.
He look disappointed as he realized that it is almost dusk. He turned to me and smiled while saying, "I am sorry, but it seem that my time is up and I need to go. I hope I can see you again soon." I nodded and even though I am sad to see him go, it is inevitable. Before we part ways though, he leaned in and kissed my cheek. I flushed and felt many emotions running through me at that instant.
However, before he could even take a few steps, I suddenly realized something important. I have no accommodation at all. Now that I am human, I cannot sleep in the pond anymore. It was that and a moment of desperation that I shouted to him, "Alexander!" He turned around and raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to continue.
I felt uncomfortable as I chased up to him and asked "Do you by any chance, have any place where I can stay? I have no accommodation."
