I enlist the assistance of Rain for date prep. Jaycob told me to meet him at noon for lunch at
Ferrero’s Café. I’m happy to be able to see Mr. Ferrero again. Other than that, I’m not looking
forward to this at all. Well, the free food is appreciated if he pays. If he doesn’t, I have a ten I
snagged off the floor of a high-end clothing store on 21
st
.
“So tell me about this boy? What’s his name? Is he tall? Is he cute?”
“His name is Jaycob. He works at a tattoo parlor and he’s a few inches taller than me.”
“Is he cute?”
Is he? I like his dark hair. It’s so dark it looks like he stuck his head into a vat of midnight black
ink. His eyes, can I even describe them? So much emotion hidden in them yet they reveal all.
“A little. Not much.”
She makes a look, rolling her eyes. She doesn’t believe me.
“So you really want to look your worst for him? On your first date?”
“Yes. I’m not interested in him and I don’t want him to be interested in me.”
She sighs before grabbing a mirror. She hands it to me and allows me to look at my reflection.
“Thoughts?”
“It’s amazing!”
For what I asked for, she did an amazing job. I wanted to look dirty but still clean. I wanted
subtle grim and that’s what she gave me. It looks like I’ve been working all day in some factory.
“It’s perfect! Thank you!”
I give my friends and fellow Forgotten a hug, squeezing her tight.
“You are the best!”
“Just let me know how the date goes, okay?”
“Of course!”
With that, I leave the room, ready to take on the day and all it has to offer.
