"You have to, Jimin."
The tension is thick between you and Jimin as you sit on your favorite bench on the beach, looking down to your fiddling, numb fingers.
The cold onshore breeze blows right through your sweater, making you hug your knees close. You can feel Jimin sigh next to you, his eyes fixed to the crashing waves further ahead.
"But I'll be leaving you, then." He swallows.
You turn your head and look at him.
His hair loosely falling down in his forehead, the breeze making it tousled, tangled. Under the fading sun it appeared a golden brown, the orangey cast making him glow. The waves lapping in the background like the ticking of a clock, but the time not demanding them to part."For something better." You force out, biting your bottom lip so harsh that a irony taste erupts in your mouth, making you lick your lips.
Jimin furrow his brows, shaking his head. He jolt his head to the side, his eyes piercing into yours.
"Don't say that."
"But it's tru—"
"No it's not! Stop saying that. You think so low of yourself. Don't you know how much I care about you? How precious you are? You've been with me for years now. Every fucking day. You've seen my best sides, my worst sides. You know me better than I know myself. Don't you get that? I'll miss you too much!" He yells, the tears in the brim of his eyes almost dropping down his soft cheeks.
You close your eyes, feeling your lip tremble hearing the words fall from his beautiful lips.
You sigh, before opening your eyes once more, the distant silvery sea now a blur due to the water in your eyes.
You look at your best friend, taking ahold of his cold hands. The golden sand whirling around you, making you blink away the tears in the corner of your eyes.
"And I'll be right here, Jimin — missing you. But I'll always be here." You gently stroke his thumbs, watching him calm down, feeling the soothing touch of yours.
"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. It's your dream. You have to go. BigHit would be lucky to have you on their team. You're the most talented person I know." You continue, your hand reaching up to dry away the tears from his wet cheeks.
He swallows, his wet lashes blinking a few times before nodding willingly at your words.
"We won't lose each other, right?" His voice trembles.
"Never."
