INTERVIEW #1, TAKE #1 - CAST: HIDEAKI MAO.
MAOwalks into the room and sits on one of the designated chairs in front of the camera.
MAO Do we start now?
INTERVIEWER It's very nice to meet you, Miss Hideaki. Would you mind telling the readers a brief introduction of your role in the book?
MAO Nice to meet you. I'm Hideaki Mao. In the book, I play the role of Tender Magazine's model, partner of Seungcheol with a questionable relationship, and reference for Xu Minghao. And that's all that you know about me, so far into the book. Look forward for more.
INTERVIEWER Do you still call Minghao by his full name, even outside the scene?
Mao laughs out loud.
MAO I really still can't get used to calling him by just his name.
MAO Feels very awkward, honestly.
MAO So, let's get started?
INTERVIEWER Certainly. Miss Hideaki, I'll be asking you a few questions prepared by the writers, and you should answer them as much as you can. Feel free to point out a question that you're unable to answer.
INTERVIEWER In the book, you were the daughter of a former yakuza head, who had been arrested after a drug case. Because it might be less known to the public, could you tell us briefly about yakuza? Perhaps where they originated from, or what they really do?
MAO I'm a history geek, actually. Before reviewing the scenes for the book, it was fun to do research about what yakuza are like. In fact, even though I'm Japanese, I found a lot more facts about them after reading interviews and watching documentaries.
MAO Seungcheol says me having history as my best subject in school would really give Misadventures Mao a shock. It's really funny, actually.
Mao gestures for her notebook but the production team declines, saying that scripted speech is boring. She clicks her tongue.
MAO Fine, I'll start from scratch.
MAO Some say that the yakuza originated from the samurai clan, which were a very elite group back in the day. Their members consisted of gamblers and traders, if I'm not mistaken. In general, the people who participated in these activities weren't exactly a good bunch; they were lawbreakers, simply said.
