(Comet's pov)

It's been an entire week since Star has said a word to me. Every time she sees me she shoots me a glare and when I try to talk to her, she just ignores me. Marco looks at me in disappointment, but he still talks to me even if it's just a few words. Star, hasn't even gone to school, but she gets help from, Marco.

Jackie and I, made plans to hang out today and now I was getting ready. She and I have gotten pretty close which is something I was afraid of. I like Jackie, enough to teach her how to use dimensional scissors, but I have to keep my distance so she can be safe and not get involved in the mess that's yet to come. I hear the sound of the doorbell, and I immediately walked from the kitchen to the front door to answer it. When I opened the door, she was waiting for me with her hand on her hip.

"Hey, Comet. Ready to go?" She asks

"Yeah." I answered as I closed the door

We started walking, but when I looked up at Star's room, I saw her and received another glare from her. I can't blame for the way she feels since I kept such a big secret from them.

"Hey, so what's wrong with Star? I haven't seen in her in school. Is she ok?" She asks

"Yeah. She's just dealing with some family stuff. I try not to pay much attention to that." I replied

"Uh-huh." She said sounding unconvinced

We went for a walk in the park and to our luck, there was an ice cream cart.

"Do you want some ice cream? My treat" I offered

"Sure, I'll wait for you at that bench." She said, pointing the bench under a tree

I gave her a simple nod and walked towards the ice cream cart. While I was buying the ice cream, I looked at Jackie, who took a seat on the bench and small gust of wind hit her, making her long hair flow with the wind. It made me remember when we were at the forest meadow.

I walked back with two strawberries ice cream on cones. I handed her ice cream and took a seat next to her.

"Thanks, Comet." She said kindly

"You're welcome." I said

We sat in silence and all I could hear was the wind blowing and the bell on the ice cream cart. Everything was peaceful, but it was hard for to enjoy my time with Jackie, knowing what I have to do since it always pops into my head.

(Jackie's pov)

It was so peaceful today, but it was too quiet and when I looked at Comet, he looked like he was in deep thought and staring into space.

"Your ice cream is going to melt if you don't hurry." I mentioned

"Huh? Oh, right. Thanks." He said and started eating his ice cream

"Ok, Comet, what gives? You've been acting weird the whole time we were walking here, and I haven't seen Star come to school for an entire week. This is something big, isn't it? I ask in a bit of frustration

He looked at me and I could see a bit of both sorrow and regret.

"It's just complicated." He replied as he looked away

I took his hand and he looked at me in surprise.

"Comet, you can trust me with whatever is bothering you, and Star is one my best friends and I'm worried about her. So you can tell me what's going on." I said and I tightened my grip on his hand

He looked at me and I could tell he saw the sincerity in my eyes. He stared back at his and took a deep breath.

"What would you do or say if someone kept a secret from you, that involved your future?" He asks
