“This was supposed to be really romantic,” Andrew whines as we leave the 24 hour restaurant that we just had sundaes at.

“It is romantic,” I assure him with a little giggle. “It’s our first date, it doesn’t have to be incredibly romantic with hot air balloons and fireworks or anything. I’m having a really good time, Andrew.”

“The first date is supposed to be impressive though,” He points out. “You have to let me get a redo.”

“A redo?” I grin over at him with raised eyebrows. I’ll just tell you what had happened earlier in the night right now before this gets confusing. It’s summertime so we’re in our summer schedules at the dance academy and it’s Saturday night, just a few days after Andrew asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. So we drove in his car to a fancy restaurant in downtown Los Angeles and then, Andrew had planned to take me to the aquarium because he knows how much I love dolphins and turtles and they have a long underwater tunnel to see the sharks up close and it’s really cool and open really late. Anyway, when we got to the aquarium, they said that the whole building was reserved for a private party tonight and we couldn’t get in, which ruined his romantic plans. We just got out of a 24 hour diner because we bought ice cream sundaes since we have nothing else better to do and it’s only eleven so we shouldn’t go back to campus for a while. It’s nice to just spend some alone time with him. “You don’t need a redo.”

“Fine,” He concedes. “But you just wait until our second date. I am going to blow your mind. Now, what would you like to do now?”

“Well, since we can’t be completely romantic tonight, we can be totally cheesy,” I suggest as we stand beside his car and talk this through. “You know, like dinner- which is already done- and a movie.”

“I can do cheesy,” He grins such a beautiful grin before gripping my waist lightly in his hands and then pressing my back against the cool metal of his car behind me. He leans forward and puts his lips on mine- our third kiss of the night but really, who’s counting?- and I learn forward to meet his kiss. I don’t need to step onto my tippy toes thanks to the fancy heels that I’m wearing, which is something that I shouldn’t get used to because most of the time, Andrew is way taller than me. We don’t start crazily making out there against his car like I want to because I have a bit more class than that (this diner is a bit busy right now) and Andrew respects me too much to do that so after about twenty seconds of a slow, nice kiss, Andrew pulls away and one of his hands falls from my waist while the other one loops all the way around, pulling my right side close to his left as he leads me around the car to the passenger side. “After you, Stell.”

I laugh and teasingly roll my eyes as I can now see how far he’s going to take this ‘cheesy date’ thing. It’ll be interesting how this goes. We hold hands over the console as Andrew drives down the street towards the closest movie theater. However, late night LA traffic is pretty heavy so I think it’ll take a little while.

“So I’m really glad that we’re doing this,” Andrew speaks, looking over at me since we’re in traffic and not moving so he doesn’t have to keep his eyes on the road.

“Me too,” I smile softly over at him as I take in how beautiful he is. I’ve known him for two and a half years and I never realized how beautiful he is, but he really is gorgeous. His blonde hair that is effortlessly messy on top of his head. His dirty green eyes that I can stare into for hours. His harmonious laugh that puts a smile on my face. His perfectly pink-ish lips. All of these perfect things add up to make one perfect person and not even just on the outside, he’s also perfect on the inside. He’s kind, thoughtful, caring, funny, sweet. He’s everything. “I really think this is going to be beautiful.”
