When one thinks of a vacation, many different places come to mind. A sunny beach with a crystal clear ocean is a popular choice, but you couldn't despise the island you lived on more than you already do. Sitting on the shore was utterly boring. The warm sand was itchy, and the ocean's music stopped lulling you a long time ago. Everything was the same as it had been the day before;even the slowpoke hadn't moved so much of an inch since you've last visited. You stared into your pink companion's aloof, cartoonish eyes for who knows how long. Looking at the coral colored creature was more entertaining than watching the sea lick the sand over and over in your opinion. Yes, there truly was nothing left to enthrall you on these miserable shores.
You feel a cold nose press onto your back,"Congrats. You found me, Eira." You knew you didn't have to turn around to see your beloved Alolan ninetales. You can already feel your lips form a small smile as Eira contently settles herself onto your lap. The majestic fox knew she was far from a lap dog, but alas she couldn't help but grace you with her warm cuddles. Its always been you and Eira. You two were a duo since the very start. The memory of finding a lonely white kit in the deep shrubbery of your backyard all those years ago was always nice to recall. It was almost like destiny;the chances of finding a vulpix anywhere except their common routes were unheard of. You softly caresses Eira's silky fur, and in turn she happily yips. Nothing could ruin the moment.
"There you are!"
Well, almost anything...
You glance over your shoulder, and sure enough it was him;Hau in all his glory. Hau is currently sprinting over to you, his face is red and full of sweat. You consider he has probably been hunting you down for awhile, but the reason for that is beyond anything you can conjure up. You watch as his right sandal collides with the slowpoke you had been previously having a staring contest with. He gives a girly yelp, and crashes onto the sand face first next to you. You raise a hand to cover a small gasp.
"Oh..Slowpoke, are you okay?"
Hau groans into the grains, you snicker. He aggressively spits out the sand that he acquired, and scrambles to get himself back up. After a few moments of shaking sand off his clothes, he stares into your eyes. Those dark orbs are full of irritation, but you think you can spot a hint of concern in them. You can tell he's attempting to act serious, but in your opinion it comes off rather cute. Amused, you tilt your head.
"Yeah?"
"Is that all you have to say? I've been looking for you for the past two hours! I tried calling, texting, and asking your other Pokémon to lead me to you! Seems like they didn't want to snitch..." Hau crosses his arms, and sighs his original frustration away. "Listen..You could've at least given me a heads up. It's so not cool practically having a heart attack because you think one of your closest friends is potentially missing. You've got me worried almost every single day, give my heart a break."
You shift your gaze away from Hau, and feel guilt seep its way into you. He deserves a good, solid answer. You didn't have one, you could only apologize.
"I'm sorry."
Hau shakes his head, and extends his arm at your lame response. Eira takes note of this, and brings herself off your frame. You graciously take Hau's hand, and feel him easily pull you off the sandy beach. You eventually get the courage to look at him, and to your surprise his initial annoyance is gone. He gives you a warm smile, and pats your shoulder reassuringly.
"It's okay, just don't do it again. Can you do that for me, Champion?"
You roll your eyes at the title, Hau knows very well that you hate it. You decide to play along.
"I can certainly try, broccoli head."
Offended, Hau returns his arm to himself. He gives you an exaggerated gasp as he takes a few steps back.
