Ambush

Carson's POV

As I pushed Dragon out of the way, I threw down a modified drop shield, which didn't require a suit of spartan armor to deploy. I looked over at Dragon, who had landed in a ditch. I'll check on him later, I thought to myself. The rebels were firing at the shield, which was red. I drew my magnum, and dived behind some rocks right as they shot a rocket and destroyed the shield.

I peaked out from behind the rock, and dropped three of the rebels, then heard the click of an empty mag.

"Fuck." I said aloud, As I ducked back behind cover, a rebel charged at me, knife in hand. I grabbed his wrist, and reversed the blade, plunging it into his chest. That was when I realized the man had been carrying a SMG. Perfect, I though, grinning to myself.

I peaked of cover again, and took down two more rebels, when I realized the one with the rocket launcher was about to fire.

"Son of a..." I was unable to finish as I was cut off by the explosion against the rocks as i was thrown back.

I had landed in the ditch beside Dragon. That was when I realized I had lost my SMG in the explosion. I looked around, looking for anything to use as a weapon. I could hear the rebels approaching as I found a frag grenade on Dragons unmoving body.

I looked over the top of the ditch, and saw the rebels were only about thirty meters away. I threw the grenade, which landed by man with the RL. The grenade exploded, killing him and the rebel beside him. The last soldier, who seemed to be leader, had dived away just in time. As he stood back up, I drew my combat knife, aimed, and threw it, stabbing him right between the eyes, killing him instantly.

I walked out of the ditch, and searched the rebel bodies for any ammunition or weapons. I found three SMGs, a magnum, and two assault rifles. I retrieved my knife from the dead leader, and returned the ditch with Dragon.
