Panting
I wheeze as my burning lungs gasp for air. My legs feel numb from all the running and it's very unsteady right now. It's also becoming painfully sore because of the Louboutin pumps I am currently wearing.
Running on heels?
Not one of my finest moments.
But I had no choice. My throat feels dry, so uncomfortably dry. Clothes along with fiery red hair that reaches up to my butt clings to my form, nothing different if I had ran through a rain-storm.
Why the heck did I have such long hair you may ask?
Well you have to ask that question to my mom.I bet its something 'sacred' is what she would say.
A sense of bitterness clogged up my mind as I thought about why my mom was hell bent on not letting me cut my hair since middle school.
I did love my hair of course, it's just that it's too long and sometimes, no, most of the times I am too damn lazy to take extra care for my hair. Hence you can see the distress in me to chop it off.
This was my sixth time running around this mansion of a house looking, and running away and hiding from my friends who had asked me to join them to play tag.
I always take things like these very seriously and I have always loved the chase, the thrill, the rush that comes with all the running that I do in general. So I decided to play along and yet again they never caught me, that too being chased for the sixth time in a row.
I knew that it was very childish for some of us seniors at Oakwood High to play tag at a party but it was one of these little things that count. It would be a great story to tell my grandkids one day though.
Not a great story but still a story.
Unable to go on, I stopped running, gasping for air.
No people, not anywhere in this backyard of the house were seen.
A long sigh escaped my lips as I collapsed on the bench nearby when I realised I was away from the hands and eyes of the tag players. I tried to calm down my breathing as my sweat covered hair fell in front of my face in all sweaty sticky way possible.
I tried to slow down my heart beat but the more I tried, the more it started battling against my efforts!
Heart pounding, rasping throat, leaden feet, heavy legs and unseasonably chill autumn air were the things I could feel in my body right now.
I looked towards the mansion to see if any of my friends had noticed that I had gone away. Much to my dismay, none of them appeared in my line of vision.
Thank God for small favors, the small favor was being to be able to run fast!
I reached down towards my ankle to let myself free from the death grip my pumps had on me. As soon the strap was unclasped and my feet touched the grass, I slumped back on the bench with a satisfied sigh.
