When Frostleaf's patrol came back, Frostleaf spotted Brownstripe pacing at the nursery entrance. "Russeteyes is probably having her kits now," she commented.

Specklebreeze poked her head into the entrance while Frostleaf stood on tip toe to see the kits.

Longdrop thought better of squeezing so he settled himself at the freshkill pile. "Grab this branch, Russeteyes. It would help," Stagwind said to the queen.

The branch began to splitter as the first kit came out. "About two more!" Stagwind told Russeteyes as she pushed again.

Soon, three wet bundles of fur were on the nursery floor. "Brownstripe, you may come in now," Stagwind said, stepping back.

"They are beautiful," Frostleaf whispered. Stagwind gave some borage leaves to Russeteyes. "This will ensure that your kits will have enough milk."

She chewed it without hesitation as the kits pressed her belly for milk. "Can I name one of them?" Brownstripe asked gently.

His mate agreed. "The silver she-kit is called Silverkit," he said proudly. Russeteyes pointed to a brown tom and mewed, "I will call him Timberkit and the other she-kit is called Dewkit."

"Those are great names. They will be great warriors," Brownstripe said admiringly. Webfoot came in with a squirrel in his jaws.

"I have brought you something," he said to his mother. Russeteyes ate it gratefully. Frostleaf walked out of the nursery and almost crashed into Grassheart.

"How are the kits?" he asked excitedly. "Healthy and feeding," Stagwind replied. "And are you going to meet them now?"

Grassheart didn't answer in words. Instead, he rushed towards the nursery. "He always gets excited over kits," Stagwind explained.

Frostleaf rolled her eyes. "Tomorrow is the Gathering, are you nervous to represent the Clan as the only medicine cat?" she asked.

"I'm so scared just now, when Russeteyes is kitting. I felt so loss at times without Leafnose," Stagwind replied sadly.

"She died bravely," Frostleaf muttered.

Stagwind dipped her head in acknowledgement and padded over to the medicine cat den.

Nightstar called the cats chosen for the Gathering: Brownstripe, Stormleaf, Fireclaw, Grassheart, Goldenfeather, Frostleaf, Sparrowshadow, Longdrop, and the elders Spottedpelt and Ashwhisker.

As Nightstar led the group to Fourtrees, ShadowClan arrived at the same time. There were hostile murmurs from ThunderClan.

Frostleaf felt the tension rise between the warriors of each Clan. Luckily, before any pelt ripping occured, Duskstar told ShadowClan to let ThunderClan go first.

RiverClan and WindClan were already there. When all the Clans arrived, Rabbitstar started the Gathering.

"We have four new apprentices: Shadowpaw, Rainpaw and Waterpaw. Sparrowpaw is training to become a medicine cat," the WindClan leader announced with pride.

"Shadowpaw! Rainpaw! Waterpaw! Sparrowpaw!" the Clans cheered.

Greenstar was next. "RiverClan has two new apprentices: Breezepaw and Foxpaw. A badger was seen in our territory but our warriors chased it out."

"Breezepaw! Foxpaw!" the Clans called out.

Nightstar stood up at the Great Rock and announced, "ThunderClan has new kits and a new warrior: Longdrop."

As the Clans cheered again, Nightstar continued, "There was also a dog attack but we chased those dogs out of Clan territory. Redfur and Leafnose died bravely protecting their Clanmates in the attack."

Finally, Duskstar took his place on the Great Rock. Frostleaf expected Duskstar to hurl accusations at them but he only announced, "ShadowClan has also new kits of Moonshine and Stoneclaw. The prey is plentiful despite leaf-bare."

Goldenfeather, who was siting next to Frostleaf, gave a snort. "If I believe that prey is plentiful in this leaf-bare, hedgehogs would fly."

Frostleaf mewed agreement as the Gathering ended. "ThunderClan! Time to go back!" Nightstar called.
