"Ellie you have to get up. Today's the choosing ceromony" four yelled. I've lived with him since my parents died 4 years ago. I groan and roll out of bed and get changed into some skinny jeans and a tank top. I walk into the living room and tris is waiting for me.
"Morning tris" I say to her
"Hey. Ready to go?" She asks. I nod. And four walks out of the bathroom ready to go. They walk me to Eric's and go to the control room well that's where fours going. I knock. Eric opens the door about to yell at me but sees that it's me and walks me to the train.
"Hi" i say
"Hello Ellie" he replies. He sounds angry
"Are you mad?" I ask
"Shut up Ellie" he says through gritted teeth. I keep quiet he's mad at me for some reason. I see uriah and run and jump on his back. He throws me onto the ground and is about to punch me but sees it's me and holds a hand out. I don't take it and run off to the train with Eric behind me and jump on. He bumps into me after he jumps and makes me stumble forward.
"Have you ever heard of patience?" I ask him sarcastically
"Have you ever heard of a thing called respect" he asks backing me into the train wall. I gulp and without thinking i say
"I know what respect is I just don't have any for you right now" he grabs my shoulders and digs his finger nails into them. I cry out in pain and realization comes back into his eyes. He quickly lets go.
"I'm sor-" I cut him short by jumping off the train. Once we were inside Johanna rayes representative of amity starts talking but max pulls me outside.
"You are going to be training with the transfers this year"he tells me
"Why?"I ask
"Because we need someone to take charge"he replies. I walk back into the hall and wait for my name to be called.
"Zoe Barnes" my best friend is called her blood drops onto the burning coals"dauntless"
"Ellie Addison" my name is called. I slowly walk up to the stage and take the knife. I cut into my palm and hold it over the burning coals. The dauntless cheer and I sit down next to Zoe. Once the choosing is finished we run to the train and wait for it to come. I hear a horn and start to run. I jump on and open the door and get in. I am met with Eric.
"Look Ellie I'm really sor-"he starts but I cut him off
"Save it for someone who cares"I say
"Fine" he says through gritted teeth and whispers"I do care about you though. Get ready for living hell" and walks off. I see everyone starting to jump so I sprint and jump and land on my feet.
"Listen up! My names tris and I'm one of your trainers. In order to enter dauntless you have to jump. Who's first" she says. At first no one does it so I step up. I look down into the giant black hole and jump not even screaming. Then I land on a net and four pulls me out.
"Why hello four" I say cheerfully
"First jumper-Ellie!" He yells"go stand by that wall" Once everyone had jumped we went on a tour.
"This is where we divide. Dauntless born go with tris and Christina. Transfers and Ellie you're with me and Uriah" I groan at the mention of Uriahs name and he walks up to me
"Do you have a problem with that" he asks smirking knowing I'm scared out of my wits right now. I shake my head vigorously"good" he says and walks back to four. For the rest of the tour Uriah walks next to me so I don't snap at anyone.
"You know Uriah your really mean" I say annoyed
"Yeah and you're an annoying little girl" he says smirking. I stomp on his foot and snicker at his expression before he pulls me into a hug knowing I hate hugs.
"Urrriiiaaahhh"I whine"get off" I struggle out of his grip but he doesn't let go. By now everyone is looking at us and I take the opportunity to wriggle out of his grip and pick a bunk. I get the last one and it's by a cocky candor named Darcy. I groan and go to the dining hall and the only seat open is with the instructors. I go and sit down and they all stare at me. I get sick of it and ask"what?" They continue their conversation
"Guys you should come to my apartment tonight to play dauntless or candor" zeke says. They all nod and stare at me "what about you are you comin?" Zeke asks
"No she's too chicken to even stand up to me"Uriah says
"I'll come" I say pissed that Uriah said that. The all grin like idiots
"Wear layers" zeke says and walk off.
