The clock has struck midnight.
You did not come to save me.
You have dishonored my name.
My rage is now undefined.
Please tell me, you will not hide.
Jade ran a shacky hand through her hair. She had had another repeat of her nightmare. When she rolled over her notepad laid open and a new poem was scratched into it. Sweat dripped from her face, and neck. Small drops fell from her face, and landed on the page. The words, Midnight, and rage were now smugged and barely readable.
Jade let out a breath, and noticed she could see it. She did not feel cold, and besides it was the middle of August. A loud smack from inside her closest, had her pulling the covers over her head. She snuggled deep into the covers, and tried to think happy thoughts. But all she could think about was those eyes being in her closest. She shock at the thought.
A light knock came from her door. She did not answer; she hoped they would just go away. Jade clenched her fist around balls of sheets. She tried to make her breathing seem rymthical as she heard her door being opened. She closed her eyes tightly, as the bed deeped in. She felt a hand touch her shoulder, and slowly began to pet her like a animal.
Go away! Jade screamed loudly in her head. She felt the bed deep again as if someone else sat down. Only this time, the door did not open; no conversation took place between the sitee and the siter. This time it sat right next to Jade. She felt the covers being pulled down away from her face. And a cold hand moved the hair from in front of her face.
Jade peeked between her eye lids, and saw a boney hand. All of it's vaines showed, and it had an unnatural color to it. Jade held in a scream, and closed her eyes shut. She stilled her breathing and counting four long seconds, before opening them again.
She say the tiny arm that the unnaturally colored was attached too. She the dead lifeless eyes that the arm and the all too skinny body covered. Her mother looked deadly ill, in fact she just looked dead. Her once long beautiful blonde hair was tangled and cut up to her shoulders. Her once happy face was cold and unlike able.
Jade just started at her mother. Waiting, hopeing her mother would leave and come back new. Jade moved her head and saw Brian. Brian glanced her direction, but it was quick and not fair. Brian touched Jade's leg and got up from the bed. The mother was quick to follow.
Jade laid back down and closed her eyes. She tried to think about a time when her mom was healthily and well. But she could not. Jade's last thought was her mother'a cold lifeless body being put to rest.
A cold wind blew through the open front door. Brian quickly covered up his shiver with a yawn and stood from his chair. He walked over to the now open door, and quietly shut the door. "It's so damn cold for the middle of August!" Brian said to no one at all.
Beep!
The sound of the microwave going off reminding Brian of his noodles. He turned from the door just in time to see Jade jump down behind the counter. "What are you doing?" Brian questioned as he made his way to the microwave, that sat on the far counter from the door.
Jade popped her head up so only her eyes were visible from where Brian stood. "Nothing." Jade casually said. She then plopped down under the counter again.
"Well are you hungry?" At the sound of that question, Jade stood straight up.
"What is that a trick question, I'm always hungry." Jade nearly tripped over her own two feet as she made her way to Brian.
"Careful clutz!" Brain laughed. Jade glared at Brian. It was then that he noticed her poem book that lay next to her feet. Jade followed Brian's eyes, and quickly snatched up the book. But not before Brian read his name, and read his "fate" as the book had called it.
"Stop looking at me like that!" Jade shouted before running away an probably back upstairs and into hiding. Brian just stared into nothing. His mind was caught on the page, his "fate" and the number at the bottom of the page.
