I walked down the same street as yesterday. Sure, I had complained about walking that far to Sonic, but the thought of seeing that man again convinced me to go.

I approached the corner where I bumped into him. I saw the corner was a small cafe, so I decided to rest there. I ordered a cup of black coffee and sat in a seat by the windows. I gazed out the clear window, sipping my steaming cup of jo. I watched the people walking by the cafe, chatting with others or on their phone. After about ten minutes of sitting in the cafe, loneliness pooled in my stomach. "He's not coming by," I thought. I scoffed to myself. "Like he would, he nor I said anything about meeting up."

Ding~

The door to the little cafe opened. I glanced up at whoever entered. My eyes widened. "Welcome! What can I get for you?" The Barista greeted the customer.

"Aye, I'll have a coffee with one sugar, please," the man replied. He looked over at me, smiled, and walked over. He sat in the seat across from me. "Nice t' see yeh," he greeted me.

"H-hey," I responded slowly. He grinned.

"Y'know, I don't think I ever introduced me'self," the man rested his elbows on the table. "M'name's Shrek, and yeh?"

"Ah, I'm Shadow," I told him. He stuck out his hand and I shook it. "This is awfully tame compared to our last night's encounter," I thought to myself. Regardless, Shrek and I began talking. I wondered if he was going to bring up what happened because I sure as hell wasn't going to.

A sudden smile set on Shrek's face. A shiver went down my spine. "U-uh...are you okay?" I asked him. He nodded, still smiling. I awkwardly sipped what was left of my coffee. Shrek grabbed his napkin and took out a pen. He scribbled something on the napkin and passed it to me. It was his number. He stood up from the table and pushed his chair in.

"Call me," he requested with a wider smile. With a good-bye wave, he left the cafe. I stared after him, dumbfounded that I had gotten his number. I took the napkin and held it in a clenched fist. If Sonic found out, I was for sure a goner. Finishing up my coffee, I walked up to the counter. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and left.

I called an Uber and arrived home shortly after. Paying and thanking the driver, I got out of his car and walked into my house. As usual, Sonic was on the sofa playing video games. Sighing, I tossed the plastic-wrapped cookie at him. Startling Sonic, he paused the game. He picked up the cookie. "Oh, thanks," he began unwrapping it.

"Yeah, yeah," I dismissed. I began walking to our room. Sonic stood up and cut me off.

"Is something up? You look troubled," Sonic asked me.

"No, I'm fine," I told him. "My stomach hurts a bit, is all." Sonic hummed.

"I'm sorry," he cooed, pulling me into a hug. I hugged back, gripping the napkin tightly. We kissed and pulled away. Sonic walked back to the sofa and I took off to our room.

Sitting on our bed, I took out my phone. Uncrumpling the napkin, I inserted the number into my phone and pressed 'call'. I sat there, listening to the ring of the phone. The ring suddenly cut out. "Hello?" I heard Shrek's voice on the other line. Feeling my heart accelerate, I cleared my throat.

"H-hey, Shrek?"

"Ah, hello, Shadow," Shrek replied. Even though I couldn't see him, I could feel his smile. Without wasting time, Shrek got right into the conversation. "I want to meet up at that cafe again tomorrow," Shrek told me.

"O-oh, uh...alright," I responded hesitantly. "Is...is he asking me out?" I wondered. Shrek chuckled.

"Don't let that boyfriend of yer's find out," he remarked. "We don't need him gettin' involved, now do we?"

"No," I said. "Would he mind?" I thought, puzzled.

"I'll see yeh there at around 2:00 o'clock, a'ight?" Shrek said.

"Alright," I quickly agreed.

"G'night, Shadow," Shrek cooed.

"Good night, Shrek," I echoed. With a deep chuckle, Shrek hung up. I exhaled deeply, hanging up and turning off my phone. What am I doing? I'm already in a loyal relationship with someone, yet I agreed to go on a date with a stranger? What am I thinking? Am I really about to throw away a relationship for someone I just met? That's cruel!

But...why do I want to so badly?
