Goofing off and playin' around

| Kai's POV |

I can't get one ounce of quiet here, no matter where I am.

To be honest, I couldn't bother moving from this spot even if I was being attacked by a giant dino...

My name is Kai Tuu. I'm just a child and I know and respect that. Other people on the other hand, kids like one of my friends Mimi, think they should have more than they need. Who knows what Mimi is doing right now, and who cares.

Oh wait- I care. She's my friend and all that jazz, of course I do.

Anyway, as I was saying, I was inside at a desk with a book and pen. Nobody except this other kid with a laptop knew I was back inside. I was writing with my pen, expressing how I felt, being alone for so long. No dad, and obviously no mom. My mother hadn't been with me since I was 4. She died and I didn't get to know her well enough.

I clench my pen a bit, biting back tears. I wish my dad was here... Or my brother.. Or that he didn't send me to this place...

I jolted up right when I heard something. People were rushing in, almost freaking out about it snowing.

Wait... Snow??

I immediately hopped out of my seat and cracked the door a bit. What I saw, made my jaw drop and I shut the door quickly. I turned back to my desk, walked over and grabbed my bag. Inside, I'd packed for cold nights and for other odd occasions like I'd usually do.

I grabbed a scarf and sat down. Looking around the room, I notice Mimi in a corner, talking with someone. Pulling up my mask, I gather the courage to walk over and slip the pink scarf around her neck and walk off like it didn't happen.

I regretted it, a lot in fact. Soon enough, someone pointed it out as I awkwardly put another scarf around my neck and lay my head on the desk. They asked questions like; "o-my-gosh, is he your boyfriend?" and things like that.

Although, foolish kids like them shouldn't be saying stuff of the sort. Who out of them knows my sexuality enough to ask if I'm dating someone or if someone like Mimi is dating me? None if them. Either way, this thought chain is getting weird...

⏰ T S ⏰

We're all let outside as the storm let up. All of the other kids ran out like they were meeting Santa Claus or walked out, almost skeptical. I was one of the skeptical ones. "M-Mimi, maybe we shouldn't..." I whispered out, only to get drowned out by a boy calling out to the other kid, Izzy, inside. As Izzy came out, I shuffled my way to the left of the small group. I finally saw what they all were drooling over. It was indeed beautiful, but too abnormal.

Of course, the one time I actually leave home is when the world decides to do a whole scramble and destroy the natural cycle of things.

"yeahh, but what is it?"
"maybe an Aurora?"
"You mean Aurora Borealis? The northern lights? That's impossible, you see that in Alaska, we're way to far south..."
"yeah, tell that to the snow..."
"I-I really think we ought to get back inside before you all come down with pneumonia..."
"and miss this? The sky is like.. Short circuiting..."
"Hey, what's that?"

I covered my head and quickly ducked down in case of anything happening. In fact, there was some sort of lightly buzzing light that was coming down at us, top speed. There was a cloud of air that materialized around us slowly. It fell rather quickly but I was still cautious. My ears were slightly ringing and I was having trouble catching on to what the others were saying.

Suddenly, the noise I was hearing stopped and I stood.

"okay, so it's not meteors..."

Then immediately, something started floating up to me. Snatching it from the air, I examined it thoroughly. I didn't understand then, but I do now... I'm getting too ahead of myself.

Now...

Looking up, I see a giant rising wave that could swallow us at any minute. Not even seconds later I was plummeting to the ground somewhere.

"wake up, Kai! Wake up! I'm your new pal, come on! Wake up!" said something bouncing on my chest. I opened my eyes, looked it right in the eyes and sat up slowly. I let him fall into my lap and sit there. "oh, hello, what's your name?" I asked, very dazed and tired. "I'm Yaamon! I'm a part of this world! It's called the DigiWorld, or digital world! I'm a digimon to be specific." he explained. "nice.." I said. "You already know my name so..." I chuckled. "so, Yaamon, do you know where my friends are? It seems that they aren't near..." I said to him. He grinned from cheek to cheek and said two simple words.

"follow me!"

And I did. I didn't know any better. Then I heard a scream. To high pitched to be a guy... Mimi! I grabbed Yaamon and effortlessly ran toward the scream. I came to a clearing and up ahead was a giant bug that looked nice, but judging by its actions, it was a terrible flying insect seeking death for the others around him. "that's kuwagamon! Don't be deceived, he'll tear you limb from limb if he wanted!" said Yaamon. "yeah, no kidding..." I replied.

Suddenly, it dived back through the trees and started cutting them down tree by tree. I followed close behind and finally noticed the others. I noticed a cliff, ran behind a tree and told Yaamon what I was going to do. "w-we can't leave them there! We have to buy them some time to leave! Yaamon... I'm going to jump in front of Kuwagamon, don't follow." I said.

Running out from behind the tree, I yelled, "hey, Kuwagamon! Over here!" and suddenly, something happened. I heard a noise, suddenly, as balls of darkness flew at the giant insect. I turned around and saw Yaamon. "KAI, that was so idiotic of you! I got so worried, I didn't mean to go against what you asked-" but he shut up as he realized there was a fight to win and he was rambling. I grabbed Yaamon and quickly ran my way to the group. "You guys good?" I asked. Some nodded, some said yes. I turn around to face Kuwagamon once again. All of the digimon with us quickly started to awaken.

They kept persisting, saying they had to fight. And I looked at Yaamon. I nodded and loosened my grip in him. He jumped out of my arms.

What happened when everybody got so worried about their Digimon was incredible and I'd never forget it!

They all got consumed in light and digivolved for their first time.

Yaamon digivolve to...

Impmon!

As they all attacked, I noticed something. My digimon was the only one that truly looked different from the others. Dark and mysterious.

"machine gun kick!"

Impmon kicked kuwagamon in the chest countless times. It scared me even more when the others were shooting at kuwagamon and didn't bother to let him know. Very quickly, impmon returned, knowing he couldn't do much more. Everyone else handled it well.

Until kuwagamon got right back up out of the trees and struck the ground where we'd been standing, the ground cracking Every second longer.

And that's when the ledge cracked off completely, making us all fall to the water below.
