LILITH'S POV (TEN DAYS LATER)
it's been ten days since we've been left to fend for ourselves, since our parents left, since emily died. i didn't want to talk to anyone for three days straight not even grizz. i tried to eat but i couldn't it, just made me sick. it's really hard when you lose someone you love. today i decided to go visit her 'grave'. this is the first time and i got flowers for her. she liked daffodil flowers. i could tell why, they're bright like her. i walk up and see luke, gwen, and grizz. i go up to the grave setting down the flowers. i look at her pictures. i take a deep breathe. i feel an arm wrap around me already knowing it's grizz. i put my head on his chest.
"i'm sorry i couldn't save her." his voice cracks
"it's alright." i quietly say
i push his arm off of me as i walk off. it wasn't him i just didn't want to be there any longer or i would break down. i walk to the town hall seeing people meditating.
i walk into the gazebo and just stare at them.
"useless." helena chuckles
"never would have pegged lexie as a conduit to the heavens." cassandra says
"you have to admit, they're fair questions given the circumstances." allie says
"they've got to be joking or something." i laugh
"hey guys! whoa check it out." a girl shouts
i look up and see the sky getting darker. i look at the sun and see it's getting darker as well.
"what the hell?" i ask
"we asked for a sign." a girl says
"what does it mean?" a boy asks
"it doesn't mean mean anything!" gordie shouts
we all look at him.
"it's a fucking solar eclipse. it's not a sign, it's a predictable astronomical event. just don't stare at it and we'll be fine." gordie says
—
i walk into cassandra's and allie's house and see bean, sam, gordie, and becca."hey guys." i smile sitting down
"hungry?" allie asks
"no, i'm fine." i reassure her
"they can't actually believe that they can move the planets and the stars." cassandra says
"makes them feel better. doesn't have to do more than that." allie says
"i hope it works for them. i'd like to find a way to feel better." bean says
"okay we'll be headed down to the town hall to see what's hidden in those files. why this place is exactly like home, expect with no parents and smell." becca signs
"maybe it was our parents who stank." allie chuckles
"a parallel universe." gordie blurts
"what?" i ask
"we're in uh- a parallel universe, or maybe i don't know." gordie says
will walks in.
"and where have you been?" allie asks
"i've been scoping a new house," he says
"that big place in carlyle is empty." he says
i laugh.
"will that's my place." i chuckle
"oh, well i got these sweet kicks, your brother wouldn't mind wouldn't he?" he asks
