Given the chance Josie probably would have gone about her last day at home differently. She would have savored her time with her freinds and family and cherished it as if it would be her last, since it was in a way.
Josie would have called her mother to tell her that she loved her since it would be her last time using her phone.
She would have warded off all fights with her sister and bathed in her complaining, soaking herself in her sisters nagging presence.
She'd made a mistake on her last day. She'd done nothing of any use. She'd done nothing of any good value or impact. She hadn't changed the world, not a bit.
She hadn't made her mark on the world. She'd simply poofed out of existence and into a foreign place that had no value to her whatsoever.
Josie had found herself startled by her surroundings which was odd considering everything she'd been through, mombies and all.
She found herself wanting to cry as the sand filled her eyes and mouth as she desperately tried to feel her way out. It seemed like something was keeping her under, pushing her almost. Was someone trying to kill her?
Her struggling soon stopped as the sand was blown from around her in what Josie could only explain as a tornado like wind and whipped past her.
Josie coughed trying to clear her lungs of the scratchy substance that was seriously effecting her breathing, all the while she rubbed her eyes making them blurry.
' I won't be seeing for a while." Josie thought as the sand granules scratched at her bare eyeballs. The burning and uncomfortable sensation made Josie's eyes water which didn't quite help the situation.
The burning got so bad that Josie just stopped scratching and scanned her surroundings, her blurry vision not helping with her eyesight. The sun's glare wasn't quite helping the situation either as it shone brightly on her eyes.
Josie thinks she sees a silhouette in the distance and she thinks she would be able to tell if she could flush her eyes with water. Though from what she can smell the salty tang in the air meant that she was on a beach of sorts. Which meant salt water, which would only further irritate her eyes.
' I wonder if there is a stream or something nearby." Josie ponders clearing her very dry throat.
The girl in the far distance seems to be getting pretty close and didn't seen threatened by Josie's presence in the slightest. Who would be? Josie's slim build made it quite easy for anyone who wanted to pick her up and fling her over their shoulder like a sack of potatoes to do so.
She was as you say an easy target which only made Josie more adamant about knowing who the person was. She needed to know if they were as much of a danger to her as they could potentially be.
Josie would have used her powers to test out her theory or protect herself but she hadnt drained much today and she might need the little energy she was storing for danger. What if the other person also had magical abilities?
What if they had been the person to get rid of the sand that had been surrounding Josie's body? Or worse..... What if they were a vampire with insatiable hunger? Or one who had great patience but drain Josie slowly and painfully before forcing their blood at her lips and making her drink.
What if they accidentally killed her while drinking from her, and she has their blood in her system so she came back from the dead as a hybrid? One of the rare of her breed.
Josie shook off her cowardice and stepped closer to the silhouette of the person growing closer by the second.
