"Rainy Day Hangout"

———

Noah's P.O.V

———

Even after nearly two weeks of Allison's death, Noah could tell that Daisy was shaken up. He could tell that she was surprised of what happened in such a small, peaceful town. He could that she didn't feel safe alone, because she stayed close to him wherever they went. But, Noah wasn't surprised. Murders have happened in this small town before, but they were covered up.

The first murder, and only murder that seemed to effect Noah was his sister. It was a rainy Wednesday afternoon, very similar to today. Noah was at school, taking a math test to be exact. He was in the middle of a particularly hard question, when he was called down to the office and for him to bring his bag with him. He was thankful for whatever reason got him out of the test, even if it was a doctors appointment (something he really hated). Later on, he cursed the reason, and would rather it be a doctors appointment.

When Noah arrived in the principals office, his brown backpack in his hand, he was met with bad news. His older sister, Amber, was found dead. Her body was discovered by a hiker, who reported to the police as soon as possible. Noah's principal gave him her condolences, Amber being a prized student, and told him to sit down until his parents arrived.

That was the worst day of Noah's life.

Today was almost identical of that day, rain poured down heavily and the sky was so dark with clouds that it looked scary. To make matters worth, it was the two month anniversary of his sister's death. Noah never understood of deaths deserved an anniversary. Why would anybody want to remember the death of a loved one.

Last month, on this day, Noah sat in his room and cried. But he felt oddly content today. It was probably because Daisy was curled in a ball next to him, happiness was a feeling that Noah commonly felt around her.

"You should have brought an umbrella." He grinned, looking down at Daisy. Her blonde hair was soaking wet, causing her usually frizzy bangs to sleek down and stick to her face. She was wearing one of Noah's hoodies, her shirt and jacket had gotten soaked on her walk to his house.

"I didn't think that I'd need one, since you live next door." Daisy replied, letting out a small sneeze. This was a sign that she was beginning to catch a cold. She let out a big sigh before wrapping herself in one of Noahs thick blankets.

"Yeah, yeah. It was obviously pouring, Daisy." Noah replied, rolling his eyes at the small blonde burrito next to him. "Want to watch a movie, I'll let you pick."

"Alright. Let's watch Hercules, I love the songs." Daisy said, scooting over to Noah and resting her head on his shoulder. Her long, wet hair whacked him in the face. "I'm going to use you as a pillow, if that's okay."

"Yeah, whatever." Noah muttered, looking away from Daisy's gaze. His face was a bright shade of scarlet red, and he would be embarrassed if she saw it. Noah had just recently accepted the fact that he a had a small crush Daisy. Whenever she got too close to him, he would blush in all sorts of shades of red.

Noah started the movie, and only managed to get halfway through before hearing soft snoring come from beside him. Daisy was asleep, curled up beside him. Instead of his shoulder, her head was resting on Noah's side. Her freckles were very noticeable against her usually pale skin.

Reaching his hand out, Noah felt Daisy's forehead. It was burning hot, making it almost obvious that she was starting to get sick, if she wasn't already sick.

Noah carried her home, the rain had calmed down and he was able to keep her moderately dry. He grabbed the spare key Daisy's father kept by the door and let himself in. He headed straight towards Daisy's room, the only one with the golden doorknob and tucked her into the bed.

"Goodnight, Daisy." He whispered softly, before leaving.
