I walk through the door of my apartment, swinging it closed behind me. Sighing I drop my keys on the table and turn around to lock the door.

Normally I never take this much precaution. Everyone knows not to come here against my will. Cassian once did, I gave him hell for it. His bruises lasted months.

Double checking the locks, I head to my room. I made sure to lock the door today. Sure, everyone was still at the party, but I couldn't risk it. This was something I needed to do in private I didn't want the others to worry.

Reaching my room, I cross over to my blood red bed. Just like my lipstick, I think smiling slightly. Crouching down, I slid my hand under the bed until my fingers hit something hard. I grab the cold metal corner and pull the object towards me.

As the object escapes from the cover of the bed, I gasp slightly. Even now the otherworldy presence still gets to me, so similar to my own. Delicately, I pick up the worn book and make my way to the kitchen.

With a plop, I set the book down on the counter and flip to the page I marked earlier. I remove my hands, relief flushing through me at the decrease of otherworldly pressure.

I proceed to the knife drawer and pick out a small thin knife. I slash my hand and watch my now red blood seep up from the cut. Dipping my figures into the crimson red, I trace the symbols found on the book's open page.

Finishing, I stand back to view my work. Each symbol is intricate and unique, forming an arc from the top of the wall to the floor. However, the top symbol was by far the most complicated. The detail required to perfect it was excruciating, my impatience leaving me grumpy. Quickly, I double check the middle mark and confirm it's correct.

I then proceed to read the spell out loud. The words being in a different language cause me to stumble. Not knowing what could happen if I stop enchanting mid-spell, I cautiously continue.

As I reach the end, the marks start to glow black. Excitement coursed through me, and I speed up only to stumble on yet another word. Suddenly the marks flicker to sliver than green. If I could swear at the moment, I would.

Finally, I reach the end of the enchemant and immediately take a deep breath. The marks flash brightly impairing my vision. As my vision comes back, my eyes land on the portal in my wall. Stepping closer hope worms its way into my heart. I reach a nervous hand out only to be stopped, by a girl, falling out of the portal, shaking the whole world, and in the process closing the portal behind her.
