Chapter 1

Wisdom is frustrated with the laundromat establishment where she gets paid chump change under the table and believes that she won't be able to continue providing for her children and grandchildren now that the boss barely lets her do what she needs to do because of he said she said. her youngest daughter praise constantly tried to convince her to write books for a living. Praise loves to write books and is determined to become an author, unfortunately since she's is signed under a company her publisher is so wrapped in their own lifestyle and barely communicates, given broken promises Praise decides to give a hand to self publishing. financially for Praise that is not possible since she doesn't work and the only income that is coming in the household is social security checks which her mother is the only one that is allowed to cash, her sister Strong can't give her anything because she's struggling to keep money in her pockets and to provide for her three children with the help of tanf, food stamps and checks that she receives from a vendor.
"I give up I'm about to lose my insanity with these people, if that bitch want my job she can have it besides I'm not making that much there anyway." Wisdom said to her oldest daughter Strong.
"well you did apply at the school and just playing the waiting game for acceptance. so tell them how you really feel because it seems like nothing is going to change every time you go up there." Strong said.
"I will Once i return or when I hear what the doctor says." Wisdom said.
"What's going on?" Praise asked as she walked in her mother's bedroom.
Strong and Wisdom got quiet for a moment before telling Praise what they were discussing. Strong started to say. "mom was thinking."
"I was deciding if I should quit dealing with the laundromat and focus on the school if i get accepted." Wisdom said.
"okay what are you trying to say?" Praise asked.
"I'm trying to say that I'm quitting what I'm doing at the laundromat and i hope that I have your support with my decision." Wisdom said.
"yeah you're my mother and I'm supporting you." Praise said.
"okay so if the school contacts me I'm going to be completely focused on school and as for financial spending don't worry i will figure out something to make sure that we're taken care of." wisdom said.
"how you're going to do that?" Praise asked.
"saving a little bit of money from your social security and Strong will add some of her income." Wisdom said.
"Including if me or you end up getting a job." Strong said.
"okay so we're going to be saving coins and bills no matter how much it is." praise said.
"yeah don't y'all worry we'll be alright." Wisdom said.
praise turned her head to the door because she believes that she heard her nephew crying in the other room. "What's wrong with him?" Strong asked.
"he just woke up from his nap." praise said as she was leaving the room to go tend to her nephew.
"I'm serious I'm completely done with that." Wisdom said.
"okay." Strong said. sure she is completely done with the laundromat, she said that plenty of times and always went back. don't get me wrong I know that it's always drama that unfolds whenever she's there and when you had enough you had enough but if she's getting her coins throughout all of it then that should be her main concern. Strong thought as she was searching through her phone.
"hey praise is your sister upstairs?" uncle lee asked with his sticking his head out of the basement.
"yeah." praise said.
"can you tell her to come down to the basement? I need to talk to her, tell her that it's important that I talk to her." lee said and went back down the basement closing the door behind him.
praise rolled her eyes once he was out of her eye sight. "he either always want something or to talk about something that really isn't important anymore if you keep repeating the same thing over and over again." praise said to herself as she gathered what she needed and went back upstairs to inform her sister.
"did we hear lee talking?" Wisdom asked.
"yeah." praise said and handed her the cup of ice.
"what did he want?" Wisdom asked.
"hey praise is your sister upstairs? i need to talk to her, tell her it's important." praise mimics uncle lee.
Wisdom and Strong bust out laughing at her because she is known to mimic some people.
"Praise stop that you are dead wrong, he's your uncle." Wisdom said.
"well mom he's your brother and i was just repeating what he said." praise said.
"so he wants to talk to me?" strong asked.
"yeah and don't even think about asking me what do he want to talk about because y'all know that he never tells me anything." Praise said.
"I figured that much." strong sighed and got up. "let me blindly go see what he wants." strong said.
Praise and Wisdom laughed. "so since I'm wrong for my actions she should be too." Praise said.
"y'all are terrible." Wisdom said.
"we get it from you." Praise said.
"go back and show attention to my grandson." Wisdom said.
"he's asleep and your granddaughters are watching their show on the phone, but since you want to get rid of me I'll go back in there." Praise said and left her mother alone.
ugh I shouldn't have came down here, I swear he is the most annoying tape recorder i ever known. I mean seriously how many times do you have to repeat the same thing that we discussed before over and over again? I know me and my sister has to get a job but it's hard to achieve that because some companies will overlook you in a heartbeat for someone else and this motherfucker can't seem to understand that because he's not dealing with this type of situation since his deceased mother pulled some strings to get him the job he has now. I know that he's retiring but his birthday is in November which means we have a whole different year for that to arrive. Strong thought as she was listening to him complaining again about the household needs.
"you know that I'm retiring and I really am going to need y'all help around here. you and your sister, mother need to get a job." uncle lee said.
"Lee I understand that you don't need to keep repeating it and we been trying but like I told you before some companies that we applied for won't hire us, the other half haven't given a reply yet." Strong said.
"y'all be bragging that y'all have an education but can't never get a job, I thought y'all was smart people." uncle lee said.
"you know what? I'm not about to sit here." lee watched her get up from the chair that she was once sitting in. "and let you try to look down on me. your mother gave you the job that you have let's get that first fact straight, second fact our education record is better than yours so you have no right to discriminate education and work ethics in the conversation, third and final fact we don't lie on applications about schools that we actually attended unlike your dropout in 2nd grade humongous ass and our work record is longer than yours, not to mention we have a clean police record that doesn't involve an assault on a pregnant teenage mother." Strong said and went back upstairs to her family.
"don't get no attitude with me, I I'll kick your ass out on the street and make sure you'll never be able to come back in here." she heard uncle lee say once she made it to the top of the stairs.
"whatever you have to do go ahead and do it you momma's boy bitch, oh wait you're not going to do what you say because you're all talk and no action!" Strong yelled from up the steps.
"what happened?" praise asked once her sister came in the room where she was in.
"the nerve of his ass." Strong said.
"Am I going have to take a guess on what happened or you're going to tell me yourself eventually?" praise asked.
"he was complaining about us needing to get a job before he retires and then he had to get all petty by saying I thought y'all was smart people bragging about y'all education but never could get a job." Strong said.
"oh no he didn't say that." Praise said.
usually uncle lee don't be petty like that but sometimes when it comes to him you'll never know what he will say out of his mouth. praise thought.
"yes he did say that and I had no choice but to straighten his ass up." Strong said.
"I don't know why he thinks that pressuring us will make things go quicker, and besides he is not dealing with our situations mentally, emotionally or physically he doesn't know how it feels to be in our shoes and has no forsaken right to judge us." Praise said.
"exactly but in his eyes he doesn't see that." Strong said.
"yeah him and his rat face brother Anthony both see us as lazy people that just settled in this lifestyle no matter how our education backgrounds compare to theirs that's what they see and as of right now or maybe forever we won't be able to show them anything different." Praise said.
"What you mean about that? I ain't settling with this lifestyle I'm going to get myself and my kids out of here." Strong said.
"what I'm saying is that no matter what we do good or bad they are still going to see what they speak, I guess that it's all in they're heads that we're weak and can't fend for ourselves." Praise said.
"hmm well he needs to stop coming for us like this and now I'm over it, going to put all of my focus on getting money and taking care of my kids." Strong said.
"what y'all in here fussing about?" Wisdom asked from behind strong.
"lee continuous agenda on us needing jobs, his retirement, house needs." Praise said.
"don't worry about him, he just showing how scared he is since he's retiring next year." Wisdom said.
"okay but I don't get why he's acting dramatic over us like seriously it's just February and the retirement November that he is referring to is far away from now. secondly he always I repeat always remind us that we have no say so when it comes to the decisions concerning the house since our names aren't mentioned in the deed." Praise said.
"it's like I just told you, he is afraid of what he is about to encounter and since Anthony is extremely sick." wisdom got cut off by Strong putting her two cents in.
"more like close to dying with cancer spreading quickly." Strong said.
"As I was saying don't worry about anything else that he says because he is scared and obviously believes that he is handling all of this alone." Wisdom said.
"quite frankly I say all three of us can't wait until they both gets a taste of their medicine after all of the hell they put on us and the kids, which to me would be a sweet revenge that is worth waiting for." Praise said.
"okay it's time to change the subject, what do y'all want to eat?" Wisdom asked.
"where you're thinking about ordering food from?" Strong asked.
"we can either order from the new place or carryout, it's what y'all decide." Wisdom said.
"I was going to ask what's the spending limit but I want some of the new place food." Praise said.
"What about you Strong? What do you want?" Wisdom asked.
"the new place is cool with me." Strong said.
"okay strong we going to go up there around 9:20." Wisdom said.
"okay good that gives me another hour to rest before heading out." Strong said.
