I awoke to the annoying sound of my alarm clock. 6:40 am. I'm in my Senior year and I absolutely hate school. I've been in school for 12 years and you think I would get used to waking up early, NOPE. I got up loosing the warmth of my bed as I got cold. I got ready for another school day. I put my hair in two braids. I wore a blue nike sweatshirt and black ripped jeans with vans. I went to the kitchen and grabbed my keys. I started my car and drove to school.

"Valerie!" Yelled my best friend, Andrew as I walked to my locker.

"Good morning Andrew" I Said. He gave me a hug and I hugged back.

"Are you tired" he said

"When am I not" I Said as I opened my locker.

"You're lucky graduation is almost here"

"Yeah in 3 months" I Said

"We can make it" he said

We walked to our advisory. School was the same as everyday. Boring lessons, same loud students, same friends, same eight fucking hours.

"Bye Andrew. See you tomorrow" I Said

"Bye! Love you sister"

"Love you too" I Said getting in my car. I drove to my house.

"I'm home!" I Yelled

"Hey sweetie" Said my mom

"Hi mom" I said giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"How was school"

"fucking boring" I Said

"Mmmm" She said nodding

"I'm going to shower so I can get ready for work" i said grabbing a snack from the pantry

"What time do you get in"

"In two hours"

"You're gonna miss dinner again"

"I'll eat when I'm back" I Said

I started my homework as I got my usual snack. School was something that was not difficult nor easy. I was in the middle. Not an A student, nor a F student. B student. With some A's and one C. I looked at the time and got ready for work. I work at Zumies so nothing really interesting happens there.

"Hey Valerie" Said my co worker

I smiled. "Hey Melanie" I Said

"It's been calm all day. But can you help me re-organize and you know the usual" she said

I nodded and I helped her out. We put music on to entertain us.

"Oh. This is my song" she said as she put her hands on her knees and twerked. I laughed.

We were goofing off and laughing when we hear sirens go off in the mall.

"What the fuck" she said as we ran to the front to the store. We saw the jewelry store siren rings.

My mouth dropped as I saw three guys with bags running. They just robbed the store.

"HEY! STOP!" Yelled the security guard running after them. They were laughing. They disappeared around the corner, I walked out of the store to see if I can see them.

"The mall is on lock down. No one enters or leave" the intercom went off. Customers went into bathrooms or a secure place near by them.

They are armed. They have to be, if not they would've not locked down the mall. Melanie and I brought the fence down. Thankfully it was a Monday and not a lot of people were in the mall.

"Holy shit" I said

We hid behind the counter waiting for a police officer to come for us. I texted my mom what had happened. It was on the news.

"Open! Open!" Yelled a male voice.

I looked at Melanie.

"We can't open it" she whispered

"What if it's someone's in danger" I whispered back

"It's not. All the people would've been in the bathroom" she whispered.

I started to get scared. Someone armed is outside the store trying to get it. I calmed myself down. I checked my phone. My friends were texting me to see if I was okay. My mom was blowing up my phone saying she was going to mall to get me. I told her to stay at home. After an hour of sitting behind the counter I could hear police coming.

"LONG VALLEY POLICE. EVERYONE COME OUT WITH THEIR HANDS ON THEIR HEADS!" Yelled the police officer forcing the fence to open. We both came out as instructed.

"Alright. Follow us" they said. They were armed. The took us outside. We were the last ones to be evacuated. I got outside and I saw my mom.

"Oh my god" she said and ran to me. She hugged me and I hugged back.

"Are you okay. Did they hurt you" She said

"I'm okay. Just a bit shaken up"

"Thank god"

That night we went home and watched the news.

"Everyone in the mall was to be evacuated after an hour of waiting out. The culprits were claimed as armed, but they got away. This recording shows the chase of the mall" Said the female reporter. A black and white video tape played of them running out of the jewelry store. The reporter kept talking about the insistent and mentioned one of the culprits was trying to get into Zumies. Thank god for Melanie.

"Valerie, stop watching the news and eat" Said my mom

"Mom. I wanted to open the fence because I thought it was someone was in danger. I didn't know it was the person"

"I know. I have Melanie to thank" She Said

"This just came in. The Long Valley police found a note on the ground." The news put the note. It was folded. It had the devil's thorns on the front. The inside said

We're coming for this town.

I looked at my mom. "The police department strongly recommends to lock all windows, doors, and to not let your children to leave the house after the street lights come on. For this is a town threat"

My mom turned the tv off. "I think that's enough tv. Valerie, go to bed" Said my mom

I sighed and put my dish in the sink as I went upstairs. I showered and went on my phone.

They stole over 50k money's worth to the business. Who are these people.
