It was august 22, 2019. tomorrow was gonna easily be the stupidest day of the meme squads life. sara and becky had actually managed to coax mario into coming to this really stupid party, and by the end of it, he was probably gonna stay very far away from me and my weird friends for the rest of his life. i better start packing, i think to myself.  the pressure's really on now that he's gonna be there. he wont be spending the night, but i still plan to look my best every second he's there. ugh, i'm gonna reek after that walk all the way to walmart. wHy aM i LiKe tHis????

at school the next day, mario seems pretty fricken pumped for the party. "apparently he's into really dumb things" i said nervously. sara, my really stupid friend, yells in response "tHeN hE'LL bE iNto yOuu, ooOLaLaaa!!" i laugh at the joke, but in the bottom of my heart, i hope it's true.

before i know it, we're up in the stands. it was a pretty good night, marching-wise.
everyone agreed they did pretty well, and the crowd loved it. mario flashed
me that charming smile. we had gotten closer over the summer, but no way in hell was he into me.

before i knew it, it was time for the party. we all hopped in the back of chesney's miserable-looking mom's car, and she sped to chesneys house. of course as soon as we got there, we all chilled in the living room until her parents fell asleep, which didnt take long considering the ballgame didnt end until around 10pm. we all walked out and started our hike to walmart.

on the way up to walmart, you could tell my friends were trying hard to embarrass me, but mario was being pretty chill about it. they all screamed about orange markers or some shit, and he just laughed along. some "ISHIPIT"s were screamed throughout the night, on both my behalf and sara's. but mario still continued to laugh.

after we found our snacks, we decided to split up into a girl group and a boy group to find stupid things.
before we split, mario handed me a little slip of paper. on that paper was a phone number.

i texted the number "SUPPPPP" because i'm incredibly smooth. i got a reply instantly.

"hey, i need to tell you something"

"yeah?"


"i've known that you like me for the longest time"


oh jesus.


i replied with a "..."


"and i want you to know, i like you back"

i start freaking out, but not as bad as my friends. they're legit screeching at this point.


i get a notification.


"hey, i found something pretty stupid in the chip isle, come here."


i find my way to the chip isle.


i say, "what is it?"

and there he kissed me, in the middle of the empty isle.


except my friends were watching the entire time and they were like REEEEE
