I wake up laying on the ground. I feel dizzy and lightheaded. I touch my forehead and groan. Pulling my hand away, I see crisom red blood. I remembered I hit my head on my fall. I try to sit up but sit back down because the room starts to spin. It was small, maybe the size of a bathroom, and had just a door.
I wait a couple minutes before standing up, the room was still spinning slightly, but nothing I couldn't handle. I stumble towards the door, my legs aching from sitting for what must have been an hour.
I reach the door and put my ear to it, listening to see if anything dangerous was behind it. I grab the doorknob but hesitate before opening it. What if I die? Then I would be leaving my mother, father, and Sammy. I don't think Sammy could handle losing me. I was his best friend. The countless drawings from him was a clue.
"Sammy, Mom, and dad, I'll miss you. Keep Sammy safe." I say aloud to myself. I know they can't hear me, but it makes me feel better.
I open the door and brace myself for whatever lays ahead. In front of me is a long stairway that leads into total darkness. I would've fallen down them if not for the tiny lantern in the room. I grab it and start heading down the stairs.
I have never been one known to fear the dark, but something about this whole underground cellar puts me on edge. My thoughts go back to Andrew. If he was still alive, could he have found Julia? Or maybe he just got lost?
I finally come to the end of the staircase and am greeted by another long, dark, tunnel. This time the tunnel is only big enough for me to crawl through on my hands and knees. I put the handle of the lantern in my mouth and start crawling through it. The tunnel is covered in spiderwebs and dust.
Spiders use to scare me, but I've seen so much already that they don't. I finally make it out into a bigger opening. I take the lantern in my hand and look ahead. I see nothing but a blurry spot, but as it gets closer, I realize it's a light. What if it's Andrew?
"Andrew!" I holler, beginning to run for the light. I could hear my heart beating as I ran with joy to the light. "Andrew, I thought you were dead! I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess. You were right we should've left!"
I stop to catch my breath and wait for him to get to me. The light gets closer and closer, and finally gets to me. I scream as I look at him. Andrew's face is ripped off, but his flesh is only pale, so he must have died recently. I notice is body is tied to a string and is being pulled mechanically.
The carrying device stops and his body drops to the ground. I gag as he lays there, blood dripping onto the ground. I step over him and stand there, staring at the dead corpse of my boyfriend. I wanted something to remember him, so I close my eyes and reach into his pocket. I grab his wallet, which contains a photo of him and Julia.
After I take the picture, I put the wallet back in his pocket and say my goodbyes before leaving.
"I'm so sorry this happened, Andrew. I'll miss you." I mourned. I'm still in shock, so I don't cry. I have to be strong and continue. I will cry for them after I find the truth.
I continue walking, but this time I have a light. It was the one that was with Andrew. I stare at the photo as I walk. I didn't know what or who would do that to someone. I hope that Andrew was already dead when his face got ripped off.
I walk for another hour before sitting down. Exhaustion threatens to take over. My mouth is dry and I'm dizzy. I haven't eaten since morning. It's probably around eleven, so my mom had to be looking for me.
I stand up and walk a bit more but stop when I see another door. I open it and groan when there's another room. This time though, there's a table with something on it. I walk to the table and see a backpack with a note.
"Run, run, and don't look back, for there is a monster looking for a snack." I read aloud. What does it mean by monster? I suddenly think back to the white claw. There was no way that monsters weren't real. The only monsters were humans.
I grab the bag and spill the contents out. Inside there is a rope, a knife, a flashlight, a red light, two water bottles and two cans of fruit. I grab a water bottle and chug it all down, glad for water after being thirsty for a long time. I open the can of fruit with the knife and start stuffing it in my mouth.
The fruits almost gone when I hear a distant roar. I pause as I look towards the open door I just came through. I hear another roar from that direction. I quickly close it and push the table against it, putting the bag on as I open the other door in the room.
I run out, turning on the new flashlight. I almost run into a wall. Instead of another long tunnel or room, I seem to be in a maze made of tall stone walls. I groan and begin to walk in directions but end up at the dead ends every single time.
I hear another roar, but this time it's closer. I start running through the maze. I hit more dead ends and continue looking for the way out. I have to stop to catch my breath but freeze when I see it.
It has pale, white skin, with only a mouth with sharp, red stained teeth. It walks on its three-pointed legs and has two hands, which each has three sharp talons. It lets out a roar and starts running towards me. I knock out of my trance and start running. I can hear its footsteps right behind me. I hit a dead end and I start screaming.
"No, no, let me out! Please!" I cry, grabbing at the wall. I dump out my bag and grab the rope, but the monster is already heading towards me, so I don't have enough time to climb. I back up and notice the red light. I pick it up and throw it.
It starts to beep and flash. The monster screams and starts to run away. I gather my bag and start running. I run for a couple minutes. When the monster screams again it's distant. I keep on going, scared and in a panic. I turn right and laugh with joy as I see a set of stairs going up. That must be the way out.
I start up the stairs but have to walk since I am too tired to run. I stop laughing when I hear the one noise, I dreaded the most since coming here. The sinister screaming of the monster. I look behind me and see it, chasing after me.
I shriek as I begin to run up the stairs, but I fall and hit my head. I try to stand up, but I can't. I feel something sharp stab my leg and I scream in pain. The monsters right over me now. I scream, as it starts to drag me down the stairs.
"No, please. Help me!" I scream at no one, since I am alone.
I grab the talon and rip it out and get up again. I start limping towards the stairs gain. I get knocked down as it stabs its talon through my stomach. I spit out blood and start dragging myself towards the stairs with my arms. The monster drags me back and I give up. I'm going to die.
The monster drags me into a room, I see the dead bodies of the missing teens. The monster takes it's claw out of my stomach and I hear footsteps coming towards me. Before closing my eyes and I see Julias face, smirking down at me.
"I always knew you were too weak to go alone. Such a shame I had to kill my own blood. Poor Andrew." She laughs evilly. The monster seems to smile, and I scream as I feel something stab into my heart. Everything went black.

Thank you for checking out my book. I would have made the ending with more gore, but since this is the original copy of a school assignment i had made, I couldn't make it. I'll probably edit it and make it better over time. But, thanks again for giving my book a chance!
