"Hey Val! What're you doing, man? Hurry up, everyone's inside already!" I pull myself away from the window and across the street is my good friend, Cassian Lapis. Although he was a member of the noble Lapis family, I knew him as my good friend Cas. He's rather tall and claims to be 6' 5", but I think he's just pulling our leg. He has golden, blonde hair with a pair of green eyes, and has always been someone I'd call the "leader" figure of the group.

Cas and I go way back, if it weren't for him, then I'd be in more trouble than I can count on my hands and feet, that's for sure. About six years ago, I stole a roasted duck because the people at the church were tired of eating oats. Though when Sister Punchra caught word of it, I wasn't able to sit properly for a little over a week.

"Hey! Sorry, I got caught up in stuff" I jogged across and dodged what traffic would be coming through.

"It's about time you showed up, we were supposed to meet up before the bell. Luckily everyone reserved us a spot in line. Not gonna lie though, we were about to register without you." He said that with a shit-eating grin, and I knew immediately he was joking and he knew he didn't need to tell me. That was just the connection we shared, I guess you could say.

We walked inside the Magus Guild and it was separated by many floors. The floors went in order as such:

Mead Hall

Registration Floor

Library

Armory

Princeps Office

I looked at the sign and was confused. Mead Hall? It looked nothing like I had in mind. I had expected a mead hall to look like a group of warriors all drinking mead, laughing, and well, doing adventurer stuff like sharing stories, but instead, it was empty and bare. However, there was one person, it was a short, red-haired girl who was wiping down the counter. There were many tables and chairs, definitely more than I could count. The girl looked up from the counter and gave me a warm smile and gestured a small wave. She was pretty cute.

"Hey, Val, what're you spacing out for? Let's hurry up and meet with the others."

"Ah, right sorry." Cas literally dragged me up the stairs and headed to the second floor, the Registration Floor. Everyone was there, and I felt bad when the rest of the group sighed in relief upon my arrival.

"Jeez what took ya' so long-!" The annoying voice cut itself off and the cause of the sound stared at me in disbelief before cackling like the witch he was.

"What the heck happened to your hair! Oh man, I didn't know you could get any uglier!" Of course, it was the one person I never got along with, it was Aurora Ignis. He's always been a nugator ac nebulo. He liked to brag that his name was a shorter version of the world, but his height only made him look like a tree in comparison to Aurorus. He had light red hair, and he was very, well, extra about everything. If he could over exaggerate something, he'd do it without a second thought.

His twin sister was next to him and though I couldn't hear it, I could tell she told him to stop. She was the exact opposite of her stulte brother. In fact, she was very timid, and it took her a long time to warm up to me when we first met. Her name's Dawn and the only difference between her and Aurora was that her hair was more blonde than red. Each had a pair of blue eyes to match.

"Now now, he does have to travel quite far, so cut him some slack." The sound of morning doves rung in my ear when I heard the sweet voice of May Membris. She had long silky, white hair, and large but beautiful, yellow eyes that gleamed so bright they even shined at night. She's the pacifist of the group and always tries to defuse situations. She's very nice.
