It had been one week since Steve came back, both Peggy and Steve has told Howard and made him promise not to tell anyone.
Then, they proceeded to create a new identity for Steve, now he was Steve Carter and it wasn't bad to be able to walk in the street without being stopped almost every time.Peggy was still very busy since that late night call, she wasn't home a lot and almost always slept in her office. Even Angie couldn't make Peggy rest.
Days past and they became months, Peggy still hadn't found Dottie, she was slowly starting to lose any hope of finding her.
It was on Monday at 4am that Howard bursted in her office, waking her up instantly, Peggy immediately drew a weapon out, aiming for Howard's head.
"Hey-Woah...You've slept here?" Howard asked looking at Peggy.
"You know you really should knock, I almost shot you." Peggy said putting her gun down, Howard laughed.
"No, you wouldn't have..." He hesitated "Right?" Peggy just smiled.
"Ah...well...anyway...I might have found something." Howard said sitting down in front of Peggy.
"Tell me which agent found it, I'll thank him personally." Peggy answered.
"Woah that hurts. I did found that information alone."
"Oh...And what did you find? How to keep your eyes off a woman's body for more than 3 seconds?" Peggy said.
"I-I'll act as if I'm not hurt. I found where Dottie might be."
"Well, now you've got my complete attention." Peggy said sincerely.
"She was spotted 4 hours ago in a shop, not far from your, Well my house." Howard said.
"Well, is she still there? Have you stopped her?" Peggy said Howard didn't answered.
"You lost her?" Peggy said, Howard nodded.
Peggy laughed and stood up. She started passing around her office.
"You are unbelievable, Howard! What are you waiting for? We need to find her!"
"What do you think we're doing?" Howard asked.
"I-Argh...Do we have any lead?" Peggy asked, still pacing around her office.
"Yeah...No." Howard said. "Could you please stop pacing like that." Howard said, Peggy kept pacing.
"We need to figure out where she's going and what she wants. She could be targeting New York again, or you or Angie or Daniel. Last time we saw her, she was planning to kill all of New York, we need to know her plan, we need-"
"You to stop pacing!!!" Howard yelled, Peggy stopped dead in her track. "I need you to stop pacing, please. Please Peg, calm down." Howard said more calmly.
"Everything's going to be fine, we'll find her. Okay?" Howard said putting a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Alright. Will you tell me if you got any news?" Peggy said, sitting down again.
"Of course, every things goes through you, every single thing." Howard said heading toward the door, suddenly he stopped turning toward her.
"And for the record, when she tried to kill all New York wasn't the last time you saw her." Howard said getting out.
"I know." Peggy said.
A few hours later, Peggy finally decided to come home where she knew Steve was waiting for her and, judging by the time, Angie too.
So Peggy packed up her things, locked her office and walked out of the building.
