- MADDIES POV -

"So maddie, I've noticed you've been talking to someone named megan I believe?" my mom said at dinner.

I nodded.

"Yeah she uh, she's cool."

Of course I wasn't going to tell her that megan looked just like me.

"Ok."

At Megan's house I met her parents and her sister. We went up to her room. I thought it was off that we looked so much alike, and get this, we had the same last name.

"Did you get your birth certificate?" I asked. We had planned on comparing them to find out what our case was.

"No, they said they couldn't give it to me..." she said.

"That's suspicious. Maybe... maybe you're adopted" I stammered. I didn't want to make her feel, you know, unloved.

"I don't know, it could all just be a huge coincidence. you know, the average person has seven people that look like them in the world." She said, obviously in denial.

"With the same last name?"

She shook her head. "I don't know, it's possible, right?"

"Yeah well-" I was cut off by my phone ringing. "Hold on"

I took it out of my pocket and checked who it was.

Mom.

"Hi" I said.

"Are you still at megans?"

"Yeah. Why where else would I be?"

She hesitated.

"Ok well be home by midnight."

I nodded, soon realizing she couldn't see me.

"Ok mom. Bye"

I hung up.

Megan and I looked up our family history on ancestry.com. Sure enough, we had the same ancestors.

Her parents and sister as the same last name, Hamilton, but Megan's was ziegler.

"I can't believe this." Megan said. I could sort of see a tear forming in her eye.
