chapter 1

Kei pov.

As i walk to the team's meeting place of choice, listening to music as i walk, i hear someone crying, and sounds of a struggle. I continue walking in that direction. I see a girl, fighting two boys.

"You assholes! Just because I'm sitting here alone, doesn't mean you can bother me!" she cries out in fury, while beating one of them over the head with her shoe. The other stands, frozen in fear and shock. I pull off my headphones and laugh.

"Hey girlie, i know you seem busy, but i was wondering if you wanted some help!." i call out. She glances up while hitting the guy over the head once more, knocking him out. He crumbles to the ground, wiping blood from her nose, smearing the red streak. She nods her head and walks towards me.

"Can you walk with me for the next three blocks? At least until i get close to my house?" she asks me, i sigh.

"Whatever. I'm going in that direction anyway," I tell her. I continue walking. My phone rings. As i answer the phone, shouting comes from the other end

"TSUKKI HELP, HINATA TURNED INTO A FROG!"

"Tanaka! Don't say that! We mean Hinata is really hyper and ate that really sugary stuff and we can't leave the gymnasium! Can you head over here and knock him out gently?" Yami informs me. I facepalm, rubbing my eyes under my glasses.

"Oh my fucking god, you guys are the dumbasses of this generation. WHY WOULD YOU LET HIM EAT THAT SHIT?! And i can't exactly knock him out 'gently'. I'll be right there, but you're going to have to be patient." i hang up the call and groan.

"My friends are so stupid!" i pinch the bridge of my nose. The girl looks up at me.

"Do you have to go deal with that?" she asks, slightly amused.

"Yeah, do you want me to finish walking you home, or would you rather come with and wait for me to deal with the idiots?" i ask, quirking an eyebrow. She grins.

"Watching you deal with the idiots would be fun. besides, it sounds better than going back to an empty apartment," she tells me sighing. I hold out a hand.

"I'm Kei Tsukishima. call me whatever." she takes my hand and gives it a shake.

"I'm Emai Kageyama."

"Kageyama? Do you have a brother?" i ask.

"Yeah.....his name is Tobio?" she tells me, confused.

"oh hey, I know that dumbass," i tell her, walking back in the direction of the gymnasium, as she follows. I whip open the door and walk straight up to Hinata. I see him smashing the volleyball over the net when Kageyama tosses them. The balls fly in all different directions due to the force they are hit with. I grab him by the back of the shirt.

"What part of 'it's time to go' do you not understand?" i ask him coldly. He squeaks, going limp. I drop him, and start picking up the stray volleyballs. The rest of the team helps me, and thanks me gratefully.

"Team captain and the other upperclassmen are gone for the night so you're the only one we could think of the call," Yami tells me. I sigh, as my best friend explains. I remember Emai. I turn and watch as she walks over to Tobio quietly.

"So this is what you've been doing, Lil bro," she says quietly. Tobio flinches.

She smacks him over the head. He winces.

"That's for not telling me, so i could support you. Why didn't you tell me?" she asks, sounding hurt. He doesn't answer.

"What, did you think i would be angry or something? Well, i am not angry. I'm just upset that you don't trust me enough to be happy for you when you find something you can be serious about." she turns and sighs.
