We took a break between tours in September 1982 and we were back in the UK. It felt like forever since we were there and even though I was having a lot of fun, I was also quite homesick. Simon decided that he wanted me to meet his parents. I was surprised by how quickly things were moving, but I thought it was a great idea.
On Sunday afternoon, Simon took me to his parents' home in Pinner. His mother cooked a delicious meal for us and she was a lovely woman. She totally supported of our relationship and now I could feel the pressure on me. I couldn't screw this!
- My mum totally loved you! – he told me the next day
- And I loved her! She is amazing, I wish my mum was that nice.
- And, speaking of your mum, when am I going to meet your parents?
- Soon, hopefully
- Are you sure you want me to meet them?
- I do, but they are not as nice as your parents and I am not sure if they will approve of our relationship.
- Hang on, they don't know we are dating?
- No, I haven't told them yet.
- What are you waiting for?
- Relax, Simon, we only have been dating for 1 month.
- I know, but I just want to make sure that this is serious like we talked about.
- It is. You are going to meet my parents, I just need more time.
- Alright, whatever, take your time.
Things took a bad turn while we were on tour in Europe. Nick decided to bring his new girlfriend, Julie Anne with us and clearly, he told her all about me because she wouldn't stop glaring at me. Nick and I kept our distance during this tour and only talked when it was about work.
But things got worse when we arrived at Munich, Germany. We had the night off and everyone wanted to do something different. Besides Julie Anne, Andy's wife, Tracey was travelling with us.
Andy and Tracey decided to stay in the hotel, Nick and Julie Anne went out, Amanda, Roger, John and part of the club went to nightclub and Simon and I decided to do our own thing.
First, we had dinner at a nice German restaurant and then we went to the Cinema. When we returned to the hotel late at night, there were a lot of two things in the hallway: people and blood. Not a good combination. Simon and I were confused and worried and quickly ask someone from the crew what was happening.
- It's John.
- Oh my god, what happened to him? – Simon asked
- He is fine now, but he broke his hand, the doctor is putting stiches on him now.
- How did he break his hand?
- I have no clue.
We were in the middle of the hallway and then we noticed that Roger was also hurt.
- Roger too? – I asked in disbelief
- Well, Roger got hurt too but that's another story – said the crew member
- What the hell happened tonight? – asked Simon shocked
I went first to check on Roger, while Simon went to check on John. Amanda was there.
- What happened to him?
- Someone knocked him with a bottle in a bar.
- What? Roger got into a fight?
