Hey, remember when I said I was going to make a follow-up oneshot to 'the party'? Well I have yet to start it ...in the meantime....
————————————————————
Warnings: language & smut"You're late..." I said in a disapproving tone, swinging the door open wide for him to get in.
Duncan rolls his eyes. "I don't know if you noticed, but it's practically a fucking blizzard out there."
I huff and turn back to the tv, watching as the weatherman went on and on about the incoming winter storm.
Duncan drops off the small Little Mermaid bag on the floor, careful not to awaken our snoozing toddler on his shoulder.
He goes to tuck Elsie in bed. I'm not surprised she's knocked out. She always is, after a weekend at Daddy's.
"And folks, it's only gonna get worse from here. Expect road closures and such for the next couple of days. We advise everyone to stay off the roads-"
Duncan trudged towards the door. "I'm gonna head out..."
I nod slowly , then look at the tv again. All the advisories and warnings to stay indoors.
As he heads out into the winter snow, I can't help but feel a knot form in my stomach.
If this was some cartoon, the angel and devil would be perched on my shoulders right now.
Courtney! You cannot let him go out in that storm. He could get in an accident. Then what would you tell Elsie! What would that do to you!
But to be fair I told him ahead of time that it was going to storm really bad and he should leave earlier...does he listen ? Of course not ....
Sighing, and pushing both sides of my conscious away, I make my choice.
Let's hope I don't regret it.
"Duncan!" I call out and wave so he sees me, as he's already started up the car.
He raises a pierced brow at me and steps out, leaning on the door. "What?"
"Come back inside." I say, wrapping my fuzzy cardigan around me tighter.
"Why?" He says and I swear I can see that smirk start to form on his face.
He is so irritating.
"Because, it's storming bad and the roads are covered . I'd prefer to not have to explain to our 3 year old that her dad was in an accident. So humor me." I plaster on my sweetest fake smile and for a second he just stands there.
Drinking this all in, I'm sure.
Then to my (deep down) relief he shuts the door and slowly walks back up to the door.
"Well, since you care so much." He says smirking the whole way in.

"I have water....juice...some more water...and oh, beer." I call out from the kitchen."You don't even drink beer..." Duncan says and he's must've slipped in behind me because he sounds a lot closer. I stand up from inside the fridge to see him shedding his jacket.
I try not to look too hard, but I almost can't help it.
He's wearing a black long sleeve Henley and I can tell he's been working out, that's how defined his muscles are.
I shrug. "I don't. But Geoff brings it for whenever him and Bridge come over for dinner sometimes. I'm sure he won't mind."
I offer him a bottle and he takes it.
