emma's phone rang as a round of knocks sounded on her doors. she groggily opened her eyes as she grabbed her phone and stood up.
"hello?" her sleepy voice questioned as she looked into a mirror, grimacing at her appearance.
"em? i'm at the door, can i come in?" ethan questioned. emma gasped quietly as she grabbed a brush and immediately brushed the knots in her hair.
"y-yeah, i'll be downstairs in a minute to let you in." she told him. saying bye before hanging up the phone. she made sure she looked 'presentable' for him. wearing one of his oversized hoodies and her long dark hair down.
"hey eth." she greeted as she opened the door. he smiled down at her before furrowing his eyebrows.
"have you been crying?" ethan asked, his voice soft and concerned.
"n-no." emma lied, not realizing she probably had dried tear stains on her face.
"emma." ethan sighed. emma shook over head defeatedly.
"i had a fight with ellie and hannah." she admitted, looking up at ethan who cupped her face gently.
"you okay?" he asked.
emma nodded, "i just feel like shit over what happened, you know," she paused, "they said that i've been distant."
"distant?" ethan questioned, "how so?"
"it started with james not telling them he was leaving, then they turned it on me not paying attention to hannah's break-up." emma admitted, "i've been thinking and they're right. ever since i started hanging out with you, gray, and james more, i haven't really kept in touch with them."
"how do you feel about that?" ethan asked gently.
"i just think we've grown apart," emma shook her head as she sat down at the table, "i didn't mean to ignore them, i've just grown away i guess."
ethan sent her a small smile, "people grow apart em, just give them time and maybe you guys can work something out."
"you're right." emma said, "have i been a bad friend to you guys?" her voice asked softly.
ethan shook his head, "no em, never."
"thanks ethan." emma kissed him, "thanks for coming over."
"always."
okay so after a month i've finally decided on a good plot for the rest of this book so it's fluffy and interesting. enjoyyyyy
