The men pulled her up by her arms, appearing completely casual about the actions of Gabriel. This was clearly a very normal occurrence. Adeline rose her weary head to see Gabriel, Mason, and a plentiful forest standing tall behind them.
"Now, lemme introduce you to our game!" Mason started cheerfully and theatrically. "There's only one rule. All's ya gotta do is run away from us! If you survive until. . ." he checked his phone, ". . .let's say 6 a.m., we'll let you go back to your happily broken home!" The boys snickered.
"What d'you mean 'survive'?" Her voice was shaking.
"It means, we're going to kill you," Gabriel boldly added.
"Well, we're gonna try to kill you, but you can survive like I said," Mason corrected. "Y'all, let'er go." They released her.
"No. N-No please!" She stumbly turned to those who held her. "Please, don't make me do this!"
Freddy shoved her forward, causing her to fall limply to the ground. "Stop being so dramatic. You might win, dumbass."
Adeline stared in awe and disbelief. She doubted their seriousness, yet their faces showed no sign of playfulness. A pit of fear created itself in her stomach and her chest began to feel heavy with despair. In a final attempt at them sparing her life, she swallowed her pride and crawled to Luke, latching on to his leg for mercy. "Please don't make me do this! I'll do anything!"
Luke looked quickly at her before meeting eyes with Gabriel, who glared angrily. Gabriel marched over to Adeline and grabbed her leg, dragging through the mud and into the forest. She screamed for mercy as she dug her nails into the damp soil and kicked her legs despairingly. He stopped after pulling her about thirty feet before releasing her. He knelt down to meet her eyes.
     "Now, run."
Adeline wobbled to her feet and and glared at him with tears pooling in her eyes. "P-plea-"

"Run like the whore you are!" he roared.

She then turned away and ran wildly into the pitch black forest, unable to see what was ahead.
