Escape

"What happened to you Shadow?" He stands still, his back facing me. I lean on the bars, my shoulder aching from the harsh treatment. "You're not the hedgehog I remember." He ignores me, continuing to guard me and make sure I don't escape.

What did Metal do to you? How am I gonna fix this?

"Shadow, I know that there's a part of you who remembers me, who doesn't want to be like this. I know the real Shadow would never revert back to being the 'bad guy'."

"Silence hedgehog. You don't know anything about me."

"I know everything about you. I know you were created by Gerald Robotnic on the Space Colony ARK. I know your first ever friend was his granddaughter, Maria. I know you wanted to destroy humanity because they took everything away from you. They killed Maria in front of you and you hated them for it. I know you were ready to throw your life away to save humanity after you remembered the promise you made to Maria. I know that deep down inside, no matter what Metal has done to you, you know what you're doing is wrong."

He remains silent, but this time he looks like my words affected him. He stared at the tile, his reflection staring back at him. He gets down on his knees and slides his hand across the floor as he stares at himself, like he's starting to come to his senses. He gets up and turns to look at me, a tear in his eyes.

"Sonic...I'm so sorry...I let you down!" He hides his face from me, ashamed.

"Shadow, look at me. You didn't let me down. You couldn't control this. You came back to me, and I could never be happier." He suddenly has an expression of realization.

"I've got to get you out of here!" He tells me to stand back and he uses Chaos Spear to break the door open. He helps me out. "You need to go!"

"What?! I'm not leaving you here alone again, that's not happening!"

"Sonic, if you don't get out of here now, I will drag you out of here!"

"Do it then! I refuse to leave you here alone again! I almost lost you once! I'm not about to lose you again!" He doesn't argue. He looks down and sighs a rather irritated sigh.

"Why do you have to be so stubborn?"

"Because you know if our roles were reversed, you wouldn't abandon me. Would you?"

"Of course not! How could I?"

"Exactly. We've got to find a way out before Metal gets back. Do you know any exits we can take?"

"Well leaving the way you came would be too obvious. He could catch us easily and he would expect that to be the escape route. We'll have to either find another way to escape, or make another way to escape."
