Most people wondered what the purpose of the princesses was in the royal family. My family did not want another boy because my older brother had already been born. People wondered why. Boys were needed as the heir. Having more than one boy caused conflict for power which should be avoided. Therefore princesses were preferred as their second child. The sole purpose of a princess was to secure an alliance with the kingdom of the prince she was marrying. For some princesses, they arranged by their parents to marry a specific prince since they were born. This guaranteed an alliance but the princesses lacked the freedom to choose their partners. The other method was to groom the princess until she was of age and let her beauty draw in the suitors. This was riskier because not all princesses grew up to beautiful but if they did they would have a wider range of choices.
I rolled over on my bed trying to sleep despite the amount of stress I had for today.
I was woken up later at noon. A maid came in and dressed me in elegant flowing robes. Then my face was beat with powder and my cheeks were colored with dried apricots. Then without further warning, my hair was brushed. The maid began brushing the tangles out of my hair harshly. I was tender headed so by the time she finished doing my braids tears were streaming down my face.
Random P.O.V character will be revealed immediately within the storyline
I gazed up to see the most prettiest girl. Her round eyes were translucent and sparkling. Her skin was pale and her lips were very red. She had her face painted with worry. I was interrupted by Jimin's arms around my waist.
Lately, Jimin has been getting more inseparable with me with his constant playful touching. It did not bother me much. But occasionally people assumed that the reason Jimin did not marry, despite being good-looking, was because he was with me. "Who are you staring at?" Jimin gazed at me waiting for an answer. I did not give him one and continued staring at the girl. He followed my gaze towards the girl and his expression hardened. "Jungkook, you can not have her."
"Is she yours?" I countered.
"No, but just know, you can never be with her," Jimin said this time with more conviction.
"Why? Who even is she"
"She is the princess of Busan," Jimin declared, "unattainable for someone like you".
I glanced at her once again. I should have known that she was a woman high nobility. I should have known by the exquisite hanbok of silk she was wearing. I should have known that her hair was done up in braids too elegant for a commoner. I should have noticed the amount of bodyguards she had accompanying her. I should have known by her presence which drew everyone in. I should have known she was too special for me. I should have known but I did not because I was lost as soon as I looked at her face.
Suddenly out of nowhere arrows flew in expertly wounding the bodyguards in critical points. The crowd screamed. The princess flinched but remained calm. However, I could see the worry in her eyes.
