LATE AGAIN

Aeva crept through the patio door, coming through the mud room and wiping the dirt from her feet with the towel she'd worn outside. After she was finished wiping her hands, she balled up the damp towel and tried to throw it into the hamper across the room like a basketball.

Fake dribbling, and shooting as accurately as she could, the towel soared across the room but unraveled before it could get there, falling on top of a box next to the hamper.

She rolled her eyes before walking over to the towel, quickly reading the name on the box.

The box read 'Magna soror.' or 'Big Sister.'

Remembering Syx helped pack a majority of the boxes, she picked it up, promising to herself that she'd put it in her room and unpack when she got the chance.

As she turned to close the patio door, a wind whipped past her head and the Vocaa whispered to her.

Versorium sinistram manum.

Her eyes burned a brighter silver and her body reacted almost automatically.  Spinning on her heels, she swung her elbow over her left shoulder. She narrowly missed her brother's temple, as he ducked just in time.

"What was that about?" Ace said with a smirk on his face, eyes twinkling in amusement.

Aeva rolled her eyes and stuck her middle finger up at him, ignoring his obnoxious grin.

"I'm sure I don't know what your referring to Adonis."

She pushed past him and walked through the black and silver plated doors that lead to their family's large foyer.

He cringed at the use of his full name, and then followed after her, calling upon the umbrae to beat her to the kitchen.

The immense foyer had white and black marbled floors, paired with black wallpaper. It was a wide octagon sized room that held a platform to the far left. The steps on the platform led up to a stage that was used for council meetings, royal family balls, or banquets. A large silver chandelier hung from the ceiling, shimmering in the moonlight, while creating a crystalline pattern on the black walls around the grand looking room.

It was Aeva's second favorite room in the house.

As she crossed the foyer, she slid on her socks, gliding across the marble floors and entering the kitchen from the side entrance near the platform. This was the way the employees entered and exited the kitchen during the large feasts that the royal family would throw periodically.

"Speak of the devil!" Ace exclaimed as Aeva entered the kitchen.

Leaning over the counter sharing a tub of neapolitan ice-cream and a bag of doritos were Ace and Syx, bonding over their sisters embarrassment.
