"You serious Josh?" Riley asked.
"Yeah, how can you eat two Quarter Pounders, a box of fries and a large Coke," said Jack.
I was just finishing off the Coke when they asked. You see, I'm ADHD. I have to take meds, however, there's a side effect of loss of hunger. Today I was off my meds, so I'm starving. I like being off them though, I seem to think more without them.
I told them, "Its my meds fault, I told you."
Maria rolled her eyes, "Duh, but we've never seen you without them."
"Sorry to freak you out guys." I said.
"No need to apologize, but it's like we've starved you every time we go to eat!" Tom exclaimed.
"Let's just forget my eating habits and do something else, ok?" I said.
Riley and Maria both looked at each other and yelled, "Shopping!"
Jack and I both rolled our eyes, however Tom became wary saying, "Miranda did my laundry so now I have really small pants. I need some clothes anyways."
Maria looked at me and yelled, "That's three to two, it's shopping time!"
"Ok, ok, we'll go shopping," I said keeping down my blushes.
Right when we walked into the doors at Target, Tom, Jack and me knew we should have brought leashes. Maria and Riley started running to the dresses, Riley going for the green and Maria for the blue. Tom just shrugged, and slowly walked to the jeans. We all gathered up at the dressing room were he girls went in chattering and changing. Tom just stood next to us with a couple pairs of pants.
Riley walked out saying, "Do I look nice?"
Jack grinned, "Of course Riles."
I had to say, she did look 'nice'. Riley's light tan body goes great with her hair, which she has caramel colored hair that flows down her shoulders. Her green dress and heels could never be as bright a green as her eyes, they were seriously sea-green, though her blushed cheeks might be brighter. She has a lean body, probably from going to the gym with her dad. Her dad was in the military so he is a die hard fanatic about his health. No wonder Jack took interest in her in the fourth grade.
Then Maria came out and my heart stopped.
"Do I look ok?" Maria questioned softly.
Ok? You look stunning, I thought. Her beautiful body fits perfectly in the blue dress. And her long curly black hair falls just below the top of the dress. Her hair does not go with bright brown eyes, though it makes her look sexy. She has a light lean body like Riley's from going to the gym only a couple times with her. I couldn't help staring she was seriously beautiful. Her tight waist and her growing torso complimented everything. Now I know why I had a crush on her since third grade. And she's gotten more beautiful. But that doesn't matter because she only thinks of me as a friend, right?
I didn't know what to say so I said smiling, "Yeah, you look ok."
Maria yelled, though cracking a smile, "Hey! At least I'm gonna look better at prom than you! Please tell me those aren't your clothes for prom!"
I frowned looking down at myself wondering if I look good at all. I have a tan skin which I guess looks good with my mop head of dark brown hair and deep brown eyes. At the moment I'm wearing a DC T-shirt and jeans.
"There at my house. I got a suit." Then I smiled and said something that was sure to make her blush, "Why are you asking?"
Sure enough she started blushing. She was starting to say something when Riley saved her day.
"She wants to know if there is a lucky girl who is going to eat you up," Riley was grinning like crazy looking back and forth between Maria and me.
Now, thanks to Riley, Maria and me were blushing. Riley does that sometimes, adds a bit of drama that's unnecessary.
I'm looking at all of us now how we've grown over the years. Tom has light skin, blonde mop hair and dark blue eyes. Tom got a girlfriend, Megan, who looks good but looks great to Tom. Megan really isn't in our 'crowd' so to speak because she doesn't like hanging out with us, at least that's what I guessed. And Jack has black hair, a light tan and hazel eyes. Jack hooked up with Riley and they are the most perfect couple there is. Now the only ones that don't have a girlfriend/boyfriend are Maria and me. Both Tom and Jack are telling me to ask Maria out because we are 'a perfect couple'. But I had decided to wait for two reasons: One, I'm shy as heck. I could never ask like that only at the perfect time. Two, prom's coming up and that's the perfect time right? I can only infer that Riley is doing the same thing to Maria.
Right then my phone buzzed. I open my phone and frowned.
Mom: Time to come home sweetie!😊
Me: Ok fine see you outside.😔
I looked up, "Looks like the party's over. My Mom texted me."
Everyone moaned,"UGH!"
"Really? I didn't even get to try on my pants!" Tom complained.
I laughed, "Wear them tomorrow, I'll see them then."
Maria smiled, "See you later!"
"See ya!" I smiled back.
My Mom honked her horn and waved like crazy. I waved back, embarrassed, and hurried in the car. My Mom has really curly red hair, stormy blue eyes and a 'Mom' personality so to speak.
She smiled, "So, how was it? Did you kiss that Maria girl?"
"MOM!" I screamed.
She raised her hands, "Just a question!"
I slumped back into my seat, "No, ok? I didn't kiss Maria."
However, just saying 'kiss Maria' made my lips tingle.
"Mom? What are we having for dinner?" I asked to change the subject.
"Your Dad's cooking pasta, your favorite!" She exclaimed.
"Mom," I beamed, "drive."
She smiled, then looked ahead and drove home.
