I let my cold hands sink into my sleeves and cup my face. I noticed my legs were shivering but I couldn't help it. First of all, why the hell do teachers always let their classrooms absorb all the coldness from the hallways and turn it into an ice cube? I mean, who are you helping here? I noticed how all the other students in my 8th period class were rubbing their arms with their hands or wrapping their hoodies tightly against themselves.
"Alright, stop exaggerating, you're not going to catch pneumonia," Mrs. Lackey scoffed as she turned to my pale face.
Trust me, she wasn't being rude or anything as she said that. Her reputation is well-known around the school as the funny and laid back type, so you could imagine some kids chuckle as she spoke to me."Happy Friday y'all, I hope that each and every one of you come back to school on Monday with smiles and cheerful attitudes." This was her classic Friday routine.
Every time at the end of every week she would tell us to have a great weekend or some shit. I actually kind of enjoyed her talking to us like that, I felt like it boosted my morale a bit.A sudden knock came at the door to which she quickly rushed over and opened, revealing a student.
I've never seen him before, his ripped jeans and his red, white and blue striped shirt caught my eye."Hey, Louise! Welcome to my class, we were just settling down," she waved the counselor behind him away and closed the door. I exchanged surprised looks with my friend Sophia who sat across from me.
She shrugged and avoided looking at the student, whereas I kept glancing over at him.
He had an airpod in one of his ears but it was covered by his black curly hair. Oh great, he's one of those kids. The type who would get into fights with other students for no reason or just to prove a point. The disrespectful type.My school was littered with those shit kids. Well, what can you expect when you attend a middle school in Texas?
The minute bell rang, announcing kids to pack up and get ready to leave. Students started racing towards Louise and shoved questions at him, but I chose to ignore and scrolled through my Kindle.App Notification. I hoped that it was anonymouspillowstar, mainly because I was starting to get sick with talking to all the fakes around here. If there was a limit to an amount of fakes that should attend a school together, then my school would have to go to jail.
I leaned against the door, trying to avoid all the other students pushing each other against the wall to form a "line", even though they were all just trying to make room for Louise. What a bunch of ass-kissers.
After I managed to sprint out of the school and find an empty seat on my bus, I pulled out my headphones and opened the app on my Kindle.

My breathing hitched. Damn, this kid really has it hard.
CybilNazu: those r some pretty shitty friends
anonymouspillowstar: I don't rlly know anybody that i can trust now
CybilNazu: wot about ur mum?
anonymouspillowstar: hell nah, she just ignores me...everybody does
CybilNazu: im not ignoring u :p
anonymouspillowstar: u probably will someday
I paused and stared at the sentence. Why would I ignore them? Why do they think that I will? Shaking my head, I began typing again, but more cautiously.
CybilNazu: why would i ignore u?
anonymouspillowstar: because im annoying and stupid
CybilNazu: ur not any of those things, ur funny and nice, life is just being a bish to u
anonymouspillowstar: idk all my friends that I've ever had either left me because i was putting too mush pressure on them or bullied me to
CybilNazu: well then i guess I'll be ur first friend that doesn't leave u or bully u :D
I noticed how the bus started to slow, so I quickly typed "gtg" before shoving my Kindle back into my backpack.
The bus pulled up to a dusty, broken sign in which several of the letters from it were missing, spelling "S YV E W". I stood up from my seat and nodded to the bus driver as I hopped off and trudged back to my bug and snake infested apartment. As I was taking my key out from my backpack, I noticed a familiar face walk past me. Louise. And it looked like he had a little brother, judging from the short boy following quickly behind him while speaking rapid Spanish.
I rolled my eyes behind his back and pushed the door open then quickly shut it. I threw all of my stuff into the couch and started rummaging through the pantry. I was famished. The school food is so disgusting that it was rare to ever see me finish a meal there. I decided to settle for a bag of pita chips, so I took the bag out and plopped down onto the couch and picked up my Kindle.
