"Did you hear? They said there was light."
The news travelled quickly around,
boys and girls twirled around giggling in a life of dark.
There was hope,
The light was a beacon at the end of a cave.
Unreachable yet there,
Taunting of what we could have.
They were all greedy,
it lead them to their death.
Because at the end of the darkness and into the light,
was an inescapable fire.
"Did you hear? They said there was light."
