"I'm done for the day, make sure to lock up the office when you leave, Maya." Phoenix said as he started to head out.

"Yep, you got it, Nick!" the medium replied. She was still heavily absorbed in The Steel Samurai episode that played from the TV in the room. The rookie attorney made sure he had all his things, like his jacket and his badge, before heading out.  He didn't drive very often, preferring instead to ride his bike to work every day. Phoenix got onto his bike and started to ride home. As he started to leave, he felt the ground shake beneath him. His eyes widened as he realized.

"An earthquake..." He turned away in the opposite direction and headed towards the prosecutor's office. By this time, Miles was most likely still in his office, alone during the quake. Phoenix knew what he had to do. Once he reached the front of the office, he quickly parked his bike  and headed inside the building. He practically ran to the office where Miles stayed. The earthquake had ended by now, but he knew that Miles would still be affected. He swung open the door to see the prosecutor on the floor, curled up in a ball and shaking. Phoenix slowly walked over to Miles, shutting the door behind him. It was strange seeing the man who held such a confident front in court to be trembling before him. Phoenix slowly knelt beside Miles, placing a comforting and gentle hand on his back. He jumped, but slowly relaxed into the touch.

"Wright..." It was practically a mutter in which he spoke. of all the people he expected to comfort him, it was certainly not the rookie attorney.

"It's okay Miles, I'm here." Phoenix said with a gentle tone. Miles was surprised to be called by his first name by the other man, it was a gesture of kindness he did not expect. Phoenix continued to rub the man's back softly to comfort him. Eventually, Miles relaxed enough to sit up and look at Phoenix.

"What are you doing here, Wright?" his tone was icy, but had a hint of warmth and gratitude.

"Me? I'm here for you, Edgeworth. I was about to head home when there was an earthquake, and I figured I should come see you, I know how you get during these times."

"For me?" Miles scoffed. "Why are you so concerned about me? You've never forgotten about me, since we were kids. You became an attorney just to see me. You're ridiculous, Wright."

"Yeah, well, so what? I see you now. I got what I wanted. I'm able to see you and talk to you and comfort you during the hard times, just like how it used to be." Phoenix smiled as he spoke.

"Just like how it used to be, huh? I'm afraid things will never return how they used to be, Wright."

Phoenix sighed and ran a hand through his messy spiky hair. "Well, then we can always make things better than it used to be, we can be friends again, Miles."

"Friends..." Miles thought for a moment, then blushed. Sure, he'd appreciate being friends with the rookie attorney again, but... he wanted something more. Ever since they'd been kids, Miles always had a crush on Phoenix. He'd never admit it to the guy's face, though. "Friends, huh?" Miles scoffed. "I have no need for such things, stop trying to give me unnecessary feelings, Wright."

"Objection! That's a blatant lie, Edgeworth."

Miles let out a soft chuckle. "Oh, and do you have any proof to  back that up?"

Phoenix paused, just like he did in court when he made an objection with no evidence. "W-Well, uhh..."

"This is the part where you'd receive a penalty in court, Wright." Miles managed to crack a smile. Phoenix never changed, it seemed.

"Hey, I made you smile, that's gotta count for something, huh?" Phoenix smiled as well. That smile made Miles' face flush red.

"Tch, you're an idiot, Wright."
