Nelson chuckled, stuffing his phone back into his pocket. he had just finished up his ice cream right before Bea called. he walked down the sidewalk looking for a place to cure his bored sadness.
he slowed as he passed the skatepark full of raging hormonal boys his age. he longed to have that, to be that. he longed to be able to not have a care in the world and skate all day with his friends. but, also, he longed for something more, something real. Nelson wanted a relationship, and as if his situation wasn't hard enough, he was a closeted gay. Bea was the only one who knew, and he would never come out to his father for obvious reasons. he called him a fag everyday despite not even knowing.
he sighed as he sat on the curb in front of the park entrance, slipping his headphones over his ears. he hit shuffle on his playlist, which landed on Feeling by Juice WRLD. Nelson usually wasn't one for rappers but there was something about that song that relaxed him. he closed his eyes and let the music carry him wherever it took him.
Nelson did however open his eyes when the song ended and was met with another pair of eyes.
a tall boy dressed in all black with chains around his neck riding by on his skateboard, making intense eye contact with Nelson.
Nelson was awestruck, for lack of a better word. this boy, was extremely attractive to Nelson, and he was making eye contact with him.
the mysterious skater boy smirked wildly and turned his eyes towards the front of the road.
Nelson didn't know what to do. what did that mean? did they just have a moment? was that boy making fun of him somehow? he didn't know what to make of it, but he was sure wondering.
he sighed and hit shuffle again, hoping to forget about the experience that most likely meant nothing. he closed his eyes as Why by Bazzi started blaring in his ears, but was quickly interrupted by a foot lightly kicking his side.
he opened his eyes and slid his headphones off, looking up to find himself meeting eyes with a certain intimidating skater boy.
Nelson gulped, knowing it was the boy who he'd just had a stare down with.
"what are you doing?" the boy asked.
Nelson cleared his throat, "listening to music. can i help you?"
the boy smirked and squatted down so their faces were aligned, "well, cutie pie, you're blocking the entrance to the skate park. i need to get through and so does everyone else." he said in a condescending tone.
Nelson raised one eyebrow, but didn't comment. he simply got up and started walking down the side walk before a hand reached out and grabbed his wrist, spinning him back around.
Nelson gulped again as he was inches away from this same boy, having to look up to make eye contact.
(Nelson was a mere 5'5 and this boy was 5'11 so you can just imagine the height difference.)
"i didn't tell you to leave did i?" he said, staring intensely back at Nelson.
Nelson really looked like a deer in headlights more than anything. he had no fucking clue what to say.
he gulped again, afraid of saying something to piss him off.
Nelson shook his head, "no," he said faintly.
the boy smirked, "i'm only kidding," he said as he backed up a little, "but seriously, why were you sitting right in front of the entrance instead of coming inside? that's fucking stupid."
Nelson let out a sigh of relief, now realizing that this boy wasn't going to beat him up. hopefully.
Nelson giggled, now more comfortable with the boy, "um i don't know, i didn't have any other place to just sit and listen."
