"Jun," Donghyuck said, knowing the look on Renjun's face. "No."

"Why not?" Renjun whined, plopping down in the seat across from Donghyuck. Chenle looked up from where he was scribbling his homework and realised they were having the conversation all over again. "You know they're harmless! Jeno is literally a puppy! He is the most precious harmless -"

"I don't want to." Donghyuck stubbornly slurped on his juice box, sighing. "I wish this was filled with vodka."

"Bitch," Renjun said, and Donghyuck frowned.

"Hoe," Donghyuck shot back.

"You're going to have to deal with it today, because I told Jeno he's allowed to sit with us." Renjun stole one of Donghyuck's French fries, ignoring the look of shock on his face. "You said you didn't have the money for a birthday present so happy birthday to me."

"Renjun I'm sure they had something to do with -"

"We know damn well what happened to - hi Jeno!" Renjun lit up at the sight of his visibly nervous boyfriend, smiling widely. "Come sit next to me!"

Jeno awkwardly shuffled over, hesitating to sit next to Renjun or even down at the table at all. For someone who dressed solely in pastels and white, Donghyuck was absolutely terrifying. "H-hi?" Jeno squeaked, and Donghyuck simply blinked at him.

"Nono, go ahead and sit. Did you invite anyone else?" Renjun asked, placing his hand on Jeno's protectively.

"N-no, I thought i-it was best if I came first and met your friends. I mean Minhyung and Jisung weren't overly thrilled but I mean I thought it would be nice to finally talk to you during lunch and meet them because you talk so much about them -"

"I am Chenle," the blonde boy said with a wide smile, taking out his earbuds and moving down a seat so he was across from Jeno. "I am Renjun's friend, and a second year."

Jeno nodded back, smiling a little. "Donghyuck," Renjun said menacingly, and Jeno didn't know how Renjun could sound so simultaneously terrifying and hot at the same time.

"Hi I'm the school's sweetheart Lee -"

"Jaemin's here!" Jaemin suddenly announced, flying to hug Donghyuck. "I am free! I am free of Council Duties for lunch! Hi Jeno!" Jaemin beamed at Jeno, happy to see his best friend finally sitting with his boyfriend and other best friend.

"I'm Donghyuck," Donghyuck said, sulking, but was surprised when Jeno turned his attention back to him.

"It's nice to meet you Donghyuck," Jeno said softly, smiling, and Donghyuck sighed, admitting internally that maybe Jeno was like a puppy after all.

"You look like a dog." Chenle said suddenly, and Donghyuck choked on his food.

"He means that in a good way!" Renjun immediately said, seeing the mixture of confusion and hurt on Jeno's face.

"A small dog. The baby ones. Ge, how do you say puppy?" Chenle asked the last part in Mandarin, and Renjun sighed.

"Puppy."

"You look like a puppy!" Chenle beamed. Jeno nodded his thanks, looking at Renjun.

"Chenle only moved here a year ago for high school, he's still learning Korean," Renjun explained, smiling. "I'm so happy you're here!"

"I was terrified," Jeno whispered back.

"Those girls are giving Jeno a look like they want to eat him," Jaemin said, stealing one of Renjun's shumai. "Seriously, I wish I could give detentions for that kind of tomfoolery."

"Just say bullshit," Donghyuck sighed.

"It's because Jeno's seen as a terrible influence, when in all reality, I was his first kiss." Renjun giggled, making Jeno flush pink. "That reminds me, are we going to Johnny's after school?"

"I am in," Chenle said, smiling.

"I'll be there," Jaemin said, frowning at a site. "Another vape. I'll be back." He was already whipping out his detention sheet, and Renjun sighed.

"Donghyuck?"

"Sure, I need a bomb right about now," Donghyuck said, and Renjun gave Donghyuck an unreadable look before turning to Jeno.

"Would you and your friends like to come too?" Renjun asked sweetly, ignoring the solid kick to his shin from Donghyuck. "It's an old American style diner, I can show you all the way there after school!"

"We might as well all walk together if that's what you're doing," Donghyuck scoffed, and Chenle agreed.

"So we'll meet in front of the school then!" Renjun clapped his hands, and Donghyuck realised he had messed up.

"No no no what I mean is -"

"Thank you for letting me go with you," Jeno said shyly, and Renjun squealed, kissing his boyfriend's cheek.

"Look how soft he is! I can't believe people think he's scary."

"It's the rumours," Donghyuck shrugged. "Did you really get so high that you forgot who you were and thought you were a sniper for the government?"

"No!" Jeno said around the rice he'd just put in his mouth, waving his hands rapidly. "I've never done drugs! Well I did once, but it was a contact high from my cousin using my closet to hotbox without telling me and I had to wash all my clothes and -"

"I see," Donghyuck said, smiling a little. Everyone warmed up to Jeno easily, it was part of his charm once you got past the fact he had perhaps the worst resting bitch face ever and wore solely black. Donghyuck could see why Renjun liked Jeno enough to stay with him for that long, but something was tugging at Hyuck's stomach, like he had a bad feeling about this.

Chenle was chattering away with Jeno when Donghyuck tapped Renjun's leg twice, indicating he wanted to talk to him. Renjun nodded, excusing himself to go the bathroom with Donghyuck following a few minutes later.

"Are you sure we can trust him?" Donghyuck asked, searching Renjun's eyes and seeing nothing but sincerity.

"I'm certain."

"So you've told him?"

"No," Renjun faltered, smiling a little guiltily.  "But that's okay, stuff like that takes time."
