*Flashback*

It was the first day of ninja academy. Many of the children had already paired up with their friends. Chattering lips and cries of nervousness filled the air as more and more students crowded at the front of the academy; just waiting for the doors to open.

A girl no older than five peers around a tree, staring at all the different kids conversing amongst themselves. A nervous hole forms in her gut as her grip on the trunk of the tree tightens. She was never good with crowds and it wasn't as if her parents wanted to bring her to the academy. She wasn't even surprised at finding their bed empty when waking up this morning. Of course they would take a mission around the same time as her first day at the ninja academy.

A boy around the same age as the young girl notices her figure hiding behind the tree. He watches as she hasn't noticed him yet. The boy takes in her short stature and the way that her azure blue hair ends just at her shoulders, a few strands falling over her right eye. She wears a simple olive green sleeveless dress that fit snug; underneath being a pair of black tights ending at her knees. He notices a small beauty mark under her left eye.

She has yet to notice him standing there. The boy thought it was strange how she was hiding behind the tree. Maybe she's weird he thinks to himself.

"What are you doing?"

A voice startles the young girl. Turning around she presses her back against the tree, the bark digging into her back. A boy stares at her with a bored expression. She takes in his appearance first. Just a simple black shirt with pants, and a green scarf wrapped around his neck. What she found odd was the mask he wore, covering the bottom half of his face.

His eyes showed nothing but boredom and she wondered how long he had been standing there. It was only then that she remembered his question.

Her face flushes and she grips the front of her dress, "Um....I'm just waiting for the academy to call us in."

She was unsure if what else to say. His bored gaze seemed to have her frozen, intimidated. Fiddling with her fingers she glances up at the boy.

"Why are you waiting all the way over here?" He questions her.

He sure is nosy, jeez. She reaches up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, only for it to slip back into its place in front of her eye.

"Not that it's any of your business but I don't really like crowds." She mumbles, turning away from his gaze.

That comment earns her a Hmm in response. The boy stuffs his hands in his pockets and approaches her. At first he sees her body tense so he stops, upon noticing her body relax he joins her in leaning against the tree.

The chattering of the students leaves their ears. Both choosing to ignore the bunch of excited students. Unlike them, the girl wasn't too thrilled about attending the ninja academy.

"Seems to me like your scared."

The girls eyes widen and her head snaps towards the boy. Her cheeks flush in anger as she glares at him.

"I'm not scared! I-I just don't see all the excitement in becoming a ninja one day." She reveals. "Why do you care anyway?"

She doesn't even know why she's telling this to a strange boy who doesn't even seem to have interest. He doesn't answer her at first, just stares at the ground with that same dull look.

"I never said I did care. There's a slim chance that you and I could become teammates, that is if you last that long." He jokes. "If that happens I don't want a scaredy cat jeopardizing missions."
