This morning when I woke up, my leg felt normal. Like it hadn't been bitten by a viscous shark the day before. I shivered at the thought of it's big teeth and thickly scarred skin. Maybe I am going insane. I even imagined a red haired guy whisking me to safety.I walked to the bathroom with a dead set plan of brushing my teeth, until I looked in the mirror. The toothbrush dropped out of my hand, thumping into the sink as I examined my hair.
It was long. Like up to my hips long. Usually it sat at a good height around my chest but this was inches longer than the night before.
"I'm honestly considering locking myself in an insane asylum," I said to myself.
I kneaded my nimble fingers through my Rapunzel like brown locks. It even felt thicker, maybe smoother. I got to work and braided my hair into one long side braid, and even that was too lengthy for comfort.
"Cali!" Lynn yelled from her room. "Come here!"
I groaned and stalked out of the bathroom, going into Lynn's room. She stood there baffled, as she gestured to her hair. I gasped as I realized it was all the way down to her butt.
"You too?" My jaw dropped.
"What do you mean you too?"
I grabbed my braid and draped it over my shoulder.
"When have you ever seen my braid look this long?" I told.
Lynn examined it closely with her blue eye squinted.
"You think it's because of the water?" Lynn asked.
I sighed, rubbing my forehead roughly.
"I don't know anymore Lynn, probably," I explained. "Get me your scissors."
I spent the next ten minutes cutting Lynn and I's hair back to their normal length.
"I kind of liked it," Lynn pouted.
"Yeah, well mom won't when she finds out it's a result of going into the ocean."
I decided to keep my little swim under the sea a secret for now. I'm not too sure it even happened to begin with.
My phone beeped and I slipped it out to see a text from Jessica. She asked Mikala and I if we could help her run errands today for her mom because she's working.
I quickly texted my mom begging her to let me out just for today. After over a thousand please's, she agreed but only if I took Lynn with me.
"Looks like we're going grocery shopping," I told my sister.
"Do I have to go?" Lynn whined.
"Yeah, I'll pick you up a chocolate bar," I said, walking to the door.
"You better."
I shook my head at the little weasel before I went to go change out of my pjs.
Lynn and I met Mikala and Jessica at the nearest supermarket in town. It was crowded like usual, the amount of people walking around made my skin crawl.
"Took you long enough," Jess snarled and looked down at Lynn. "Hey brat."
"Sup dork," Lynn greeted.
"Let's go," Mikala mumbled. "The faster we go in, the faster we can get out."
Mikala didn't like being inside a supermarket very long. I never understood it, maybe all the raw meat and fish lying around?
