                                                                                      CHAPTER 1

God can be so unfair sometimes. She didn't deserve to be dead. I paced around the floor back and forth, hoping and praying that she was alive. Tears were rolling down my cheeks and dropped to the dry floor as moments passed by. Suddenly, there was a ringing sound. Ring! Ring! Ring! I was startled by the sound but recovered immediately and rushed to pick up my phone.

"Hello."

"Jessica, I'm sorry to say this, but we did not find her body anywhere. We also must end this case. I apologize," the cop said.

That's despicable. Good cops don't usually close cases this quickly. Good cops spend more time on cases like this. I mean. On television, they usually spend months, maybe even years on the same case.

"What do you mean by closing the case?" I started ranting,

"You guys are the cops and you haven't found her yet. That isn't fair. She might still be somewhere out there. She's my best friend. What would you do if a person you cared about is missing? I cannot let you do this." I was shocked.

I could feel my eyes begin to water. I just can't believe it.

"I know this isn't fair, but we can't waste our time on these small things. We get these kinds of cases almost every week. So, we don't pay much attention to these. I really am sorry. I hope you recover, but I have another call on the line that I really need to get to."

"but-" The call disconnected.

Sitting there all alone, I just think of what Jade is currently doing... She is alive, right? I can't remember life before her. We were like sisters...are like sisters. I guess I need to get used this. Being all alone. I still remember how we became friends, and that's the thing that I always think of when I am sad. When we first met. But now when I think of it, it just makes more me depressed and kind of angry at the same time. This ringing sound fills the room. It's a high-pitched noise that is different from any other ring that I have heard of. It came from her charm bracelet that I gave her since it was her birthday. On that day, I was the happiest I have ever been. I miss her so much.
