Prolgue: End of the Beginning (Part 2)

Previously- "THERE'S MORE?!"

Blood and Gore Warning!

The three boys could do nothing as people screamed at the large monsters chasing them. One guy was being eaten alive while another was thrown across the area and slammed against the cold, hard stone, leaving blood smeared on its walls. In total, four other Crawlers entered HAVEN and was causing major havoc. Austin was in near tears. His home, his people were being devoured by these creatures who tormented him for years.

Near the houses, Michael made out another familiar face defending the entrance of a building from a Crawler.

Mario

Mario was holding onto a spear and tried jabbing it at the Crawler, getting some hits in. But the Crawler kept going.

"Head to the map room!" Michael heard Mario called out to the people behind him. They started squirming away to the underground area, yet barely were able to fit in the small room.

Michael had enough of just standing there. He grabbed his weapon that was laying on the floor and headed straight towards the monster, ignoring Austin calling for him to stop.

While it had its back turn, Michael stabbed his weapon at the Crawler's leg, gaining its attention. The monster turned and locked eyes on his next victim. Michael then leapt onto the ground, out of the way on the Crawler's claws. But the next thing he knew, Michael was on his side with a stinger in his shoulder. He screamed in pain as the monster released the stinger and moved forward to kill Michael.

Mario leapt forward and drove his spear directly through the Crawler's head. The beast fell to the floor in a daze, stinger still in Michael's shoulder. Mario ran towards Michael and pulled the stinger out, causing Michael to yell a little. Austin was carrying Ritchie, with Ritchie's arm over Austin's shoulder.

"What the hell happened?" Austin spoke, angry and upset at Mario and Michael's condition.

"A Crawler! What do you think?" Michael lashed out. That was unusual, but understandable due to the situation.

Austin looked at Mario, narrow eyes and all, "C'mon. Help me get them inside."

"What about everyone else?" Mario asked, concerned that Austin wasn't paying attention to the fact his other friends were still out there.

"There's no point!" Austin exclaimed, still at the doorway entrance, "They're doomed anywa—AHHHHH!!!"

Austin's screamed interrupted as people turned their heads to see Austin's back impaled by the same Crawler that attached Michael. The beast pulled its tail back, taking Austin with it, causing Ritchie to fall down without Austin supporting him. Mario reached out and grabbed Austin's arm in time before Crawler took him, barely able to tug back. Michael and Ritchie, with paled faces, ran over and grabbed Mario before he went too. The Crawler released Austin, leaving his tail dripping with blood. Austin was no better, coughing as the back of his shoulder was pouring blood. Mario and Ritchie grabbed Austin and raced him inside as fast as they could, with two brave farmers hurried behind them carrying Michael. As they entered the shelter, Mario quickly slammed the door and looked up to see only ten other people were there. Four Crawlers were still outside, waiting for the next opportunity of a kill.

Mario caught his breath as lightning cracked in the sky, leading a path for rain to fall. He looked around to see people in shambles. The ones he called leaders of this large group, were now covered in blood. Ritchie was laying on his back, a doctor was trying to stitch his chest wounds together, with Ritchie not feeling anything due to adrenaline. Michael's eyes were wide due to shock, so doctors were keeping a close eye on him. Panda was trying to push the doctors away and told them to focus on everyone else. Mario was, surprisingly, the only one who wasn't injured.
