The business of the almost chaotic city night relaxed my racing mind while I stared down below from my balcony. The candlelight flickered on the cupcake in my hand as the wind started to pick up slightly. 'Guess I should make a wish.' I thought when I looked down at the cupcake candle. I hold the cupcake closer to my face and stared at it a while longer, reminiscing in the memories for who this was for. "Happy birthday Alice." I said with a slight smile. Then, I blew out the candle watching the light be taken away.
As the stream of smoke trailed into the air, I peeled the wrapping off of the cupcake and took a bite while I walked back inside.
Strangely, the moment that I shut the door, I felt an overwhelming amount of drowsiness that came over me. "God, I didn't think I would be this tired.." I mumbled as I set the cupcake on my counter.
"But then again, my day was pretty packed, so I guess I should get some sleep." I went and laid down in my bed and closed my eyes to drifted off. Finally, my mind is in complete peace and I am able to fall asleep.
Usually in my dreams I'm only reminded of my past with flashbacks, but this time was different. It was like I was in the deepest part of space, just floating with uncertainty.
I was baffled at the fact that it was finally something I wasn't used to. Then, ways a head of me, a bright yellow light shone in front of me and I was floating towards it.
Once I went pasted the light I seemed to be in a room. My feet landed on what seemed the floor, but the walls, ceiling and floor were a light pastel yellow. "Where exactly am I?" I looked around the surrounding area around me.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I'm late. I got caught up with Mon-Mon, I-" My head darted towards a familiar voice that was coming out of a sudden appearing door that was opening.
My eyes widend when I saw her come through the door and shutting it behind her.
"Alice?" I whispered, covering my mouth in disbelief.
She looked at me with a confused smile. "Yeah of course it's me. Why would it not?" She asked as if I was dumb and lacking behind.
"How are you here?-" I tried to ask but she interrupted me. "I heard you celebrated my birthday, that's so like you Ruby." She said walking towards me.
"Yeah.." I started, "But Alice how are you still young. As if you didn't even age?" I asked, still not being able to understand whats going on. "What do you mean, your young too Ruby," she said and started to reach into her skirt of her school uniform, "see?" She pulled out a pocket mirror and opened it to show me as my younger self in high school.
My whole outfit changed back into my school uniform all those years ago.
'Right..I'm dreaming..' I thought, but I was ripped out my thoughts when Alice started to speak again. "Oh yeah! The reason I'm here is that I wanted to thow my party at the school, like we wanted to do last year. I know you'll be there so I don't even need to ask if you're going cause this is you we're talking about." She stated.
"School?.." I asked in confusion. Then Alice bust out laughing which made me more confused. "How do you not know where you go to school?" She said through her fits of laughter. "Lakeview Private Academy you dummy."
I looked at her in utter shock but before I could say anything, she started walking back to the door. "Its's about time you wake up, I gotta get going. See ya!" She waved goodbye through the door and when she turned her back the door close with a bang and my eyes opened to stare at the lit ceiling due to the sun's lights.
I sat up in my bed and tears started to roll down my face.
I got to see Alice again after all this time. And she wants me to celebrate her birthday with her. But how am I to do that..
In a now nonexistent building with a dead girl.
