Ch. 2 Awakening

Chapter 2. Awakening 

       I hear... well I'm not sure what it is. But being able to hear is new. I thought I was dead. I thought this everlasting nothingness was what death was. But if that were true why can I now do things I couldn't moments ago. Like feel cold, freezing cold in fact. And hear this bizarre and unrecognizable sound. I think I may be able to wiggle my fingers. WAIT! I...I can move! What is going on? Am I becoming a zombie, been dead for who knows how long and now I'm coming back to wreak havoc on the world and eat brains!

Well at least that would be more interesting than being stuck in the dark forever. Now that I can feel my muscles, joints and bones! Not that I would be able to walk around at all, seeing as I feel as though I've been laying here for a century I'm so stiff! Even wiggling my fingers a millimeter feels as though my muscles will tear apart.

What I really want to do is get into some water. Feel the cool ocean water sooth my aching muscles and feel my legs fuse as they form into my beautiful dark purple and sky blue tail. I remember bits and pieces of what I used to look like. Was much taller than any other girls in our town even taller than some of the boys at 5 feet and 5 inches. I remember having glossy chocolate hair that I kept just around my belly button. I remember always keeping it up in ribbons and leather. I remember being extremely pale no matter how long I spent outside. I remember by father always making fun of my tiny feet. I remember my name. I am Adelera, I am Princess of Westbrook.

Theearth around me is whispering my name in a chant. I can barely hear it. But Iknow it's there, I can feel the whispers brushing against me. The earth! I canfeel it...vibrating? Yes definitely it's practically shaking now! The earth andstone around me trembling and breaking away. And all of a sudden I'm falling,fast and uncontrollably, my eyes opening but seeing only white shining in myeyes so bright I close them again. And then without warning icy cold envelopsme, I cant breath or a few moments my breath stolen from me on impact. And I'mstill falling though slower now, I try opening my eyes again and it's mucheasier now, though they sting my eyes adjust slowly to the darkness. Finally Ican see where I am, it appears as though, I'm very deep underwater.
